McCarthy comments on Crean

Journal Sentinel Packers and NFL beat writer Tom Silverstein checks in this morning from the owners' meetings in Palm Beach, Fla. with a thought from Packers coach Mike McCarthy, who became friendly with Crean over the past couple years: 

"I'm excited for him and Joani," he said. "I know it was a very hard decision for him. It was emotional for him. Tom's a good friend of mine and I talked to him during the process. I wish him the best. We talked more about general terms, traditions and things like that. We talked more about Marquette. It was a very tough decision for him."

Tampa Bay Buccaneers coach Jon Gruden, whose father was an assistant coach at IU and is very close to the program, said that the school's board of trustees was very excited about the Crean addition.

"It's a great hire," Gruden said.

How long was this "process" I mean seriously... He calls Mike McCarthy who he's known for, what, 2 years?

gotta love how Crean let McCarthy know more about his plans than his players and recruits

This is a lot of crap.  From all accounts, it appears that Crean initiated contact with IU on Tuesday AM and was hired Tuesday PM.  Crean, slinking off like a thief in the night.  Loved you and supported while you were here.  Will be rooting against you from now on.

Are you sure about that or just upset?  I know everyone likes to blast Katz but he said that TC was contacted Sunday night after Bennett withdrew his name and that it was done by 2pm Tuesday.  This coming from an Indiana close insider.
