bring in jimmy boylan, fire by the bulls soon.  butch lee to lead recuiting, he is coaching down in Puerto Rico.  Nice dual and great recruiting team.  your thought in las vegas.

VegasWarrior77

The word in Vegas is that Lon Kruger might be interested.  The only problem is he has a top 20 recruiting class coming in!

Hi Vegas,

hopefully Lon does not come to milwaukee, he has a funny shaped head.  bring on Jimmy Boylan, and Reggie Theus if you do not like Butch lee

VegasWarrior77

I wish this would have happened two years ago so MU could have gotten Theus from New Mexico St. before the Maloof brothers recruited him at the Palms!

So did Tom Crean.

I'd love to land Kruger, but that may be wishful thinking.

The thought of Jim Boylan makes me ill. Anybody who's witnessed what's happened to the Bulls since Christmas would run, not walk, away from him as a head coaching candidate.

gregmaio

Pakuni,

ill this, Boylan has done a good job with a crap team.  he is coaching ill lazy talent.  bring in fresh talent and Boylan is the man to make it happen.  What has Theus done by look at talent at the Palm's pool.

🏀

Crap team that was picked to win the Eastern?

Lazy?
The only thing the Bulls had going for them under Skiles is that they outworked other teams. That changed under Boylan because he never earned the players' respect, and by now has completely lost them.
I'd rather have a guy who's a proven success as a head coach than an interim NBA flop.

VegasWarrior77

My choices would be:  Lon Kruger, Mike Montgomery, Anthony Grant.  If Tark was only a little younger...! (just kidding).

mike montegomery, what salvage wreck is he coming off.  Boylan is the man, paid his dues and is getting a raw deal in Chi town.  i think your pick of the shark would be good, but the towel is stuck on his dentures.

I'm not totally positive, but pretty sure that I would rather have you coaching this team than Jim Boylan.  He has been a complete, total and unmitigated disaster during his time with the Bulls.

He has been a total non factor with that team.  There were 3 instances (Andres Nocioni, Kirk Hinrich, Tyrus Thomas) when he got into shouting matches with his own players on the sidelines.  Twice, when Tyrus Thomas and Joakim Noah either criticized the coaches for playing time or showed up late to practice, Adrian Griffin and Ben Wallace instituted their own suspensions that were longer than the ones that Boylan handed out.

The inmates are in complete control of the Asylum.  There are more than a handful of bad apples on that Bulls team, but a competent coach will take control of the situation.  Boylan flushed it down the toilet.

I cannot think of someone that would bring less leadership to the table.  Not to mention, what kid would come to MU with the allure of playing for Jim Boylan?  And please don't try to tell me that Reggie Theus or Butch Lee will have any impact on recruiting kids to play at MU.  If guys their age were good at recruiting at a high level, they would have jobs doing it already.

Reggie Theus did do it at New Mexico St. until he was lured to the NBA and the Sacramento Kings. This is from Wikipedia:

Reggie Wayne Theus (born October 13, 1957 in Inglewood, California) is a retired American basketball player and is currently the head coach for the NBA's Sacramento Kings, a position he has held since June 19, 2007.

Prior to taking over as the Kings' coach Theus coached New Mexico State University's men's basketball team. On March 31, 2005, NMSU hired the 13-year NBA veteran. In just his second year as head coach, Theus led NMSU to their 17th NCAA Tournament, their first tournament appearance since 1999, and coached NMSU to its 14th conference tournament title which earned them an automatic bid into the NCAA tournament. He was also previously an assistant coach for the University of Louisville (where he studied mathematics) under Rick Pitino.

In his first season, Theus turned the Aggies from a 6-24 squad in 2004-05 to a 16-14 team in the 2005-06 season --matching the fifth best turn-around for a Division-I men's basketball team. Another achievement by Theus was the recruitment of Herb Pope for the 2007-2008 season, a 5 star recruit in the 2011 collegiate senior class. Pope is from Aliquippa, PA, and was recruited by national powerhouses such as Louisville, Memphis, Pittsburgh, and Texas.

Marquette would close the school before they would even consider Jerry Tarkanian. My God.

Getting one 4-star recruit does not make someone a great recruiter.

Then again, I suppose it's quality...not quantity, right?

That's one more four star recruit than Crean had coming in next year!  BTW, I didn't say Pope was studying for the priesthood!  On Theus...How many guys go from coaching in the WAC to the NBA?

Larry Hughes got into it with Boylan earlier this week; so you can add him to the list of his current roster that obviously have no respect for him. He may have been a good assistant, but he's not a head coach at the pro or college level.

With the talent coming into the Big East in the next couple years, we will end up buried for years in the Big East without a good hire.

Sean Miller is the guy. He actually uses his athletic players to pressure the ball, which is something MU hasn't taken full advantage of. I would think McNeal and James would love to play that style if they stick around. If they leave, we are in deep crap next year. Imagine how hard it'll be to recruit then.

VegasWarrior77

Sean Miller is a great coach but I've heard he has a huge buyout in his contract.  He would be a good fit for the program!

So Reggie Theus is going to go from being an NBA head coach to an assistant to a college coach?

Pass me some of what you guys are smoking.

You also forgot the next sentence in the wikipedia article you highlighted touting Pope's impressive pedigree.  I'll toss that in here for ya.

"However, on the two-year anniversary of Theus' hiring at NMSU, Pope was shot four times at a party, putting a question mark on his temporary future in basketball until it became clear that Pope would be ready to play for his freshman season. "

So he signs his LOI.  Then after he gets shot up at a party putting his basketball career in jeopardy, he heals in time to attend school...where he gets a DUI during his freshman year and is kicked off the team.

You know how Theus got this kid?  Teams like Texas, Louisville, Memphis and Pittsburgh who were after the kid saw what kind of person he was and said "no thanks".  Even Calipari passed on this kid!

This school does not need players like Herb Pope.  Give me a break.  You think it's a coincidence that this class act was recruited by Theus...who played for one of the most notoriously crooked and scandalous programs in NCAA basketball history?  History begets the future.

Nothing like picking apples off the Jerry Tarkanian coaching tree.

My friend just suggested that Rick Majerus is the natural choice as a coach.  I dont know any details about his situation, just seeing what ya'll thought of that.
