most of us went to MU and have tremendous affinity for the school TC, and any other coach for that matter, is a hired gun. Outside of smalll handful of coaches (Duke, UNC etc), these guys are all for sale.

Agreed. If I was Tom Crean, I would have done the same thing. I love MU. I think it is an excellent basketball program in an excellent conference with a great tradition and tremendous facilities. But, Tom has worked his rear-end off here and I'm sure the results were not up to his own expectations. Say what you want about Indiana and their current situation, but the ceiling is very high there. Like multiple national championships high. The sad thing is that I thought TC could get us there but it was going to take the better part of the rest of his contract. Like I said, if you think TC can't recruit big men. Just wait. They'll be in Bloomington. He's going to kill people there. I have no doubt about it. And really, it will make me a little sad, but I'll still pull for him to do well. I thought he was genuine when here, and I don't think this was an easy decision for him. It was just the right challenge at the right time.

They exist, and there are more of them than I listed.  I guess I just hoped that we had one like that and not like everyone else.

Even though I know it is a business today, he claimed to be a part of the MU family.  MU gave him everything he wanted and more.  We hired his father-in-law, welcomed his family, donated our checks to build his new facility.  TC was a king here.  In return, he laid it all on the line and gave it his all.  I appreciate his efforts, commitment and achievements.

That said, he is extremely ambitious and has always been looking for his next big job.  It is too bad he couldn't find that promise of more here as we all hoped.  I suspect that he won't find all that at IU, even though he may "win" and find recruiting easier as he won't be second fiddle in IND.  But, best of luck to TC.

Indiana was a great job when Bobby Knight was there. Since then it is a probation factory in a probation league. Yes, coaching is a business, but how much can you spend? Congrats and good luck, coach. You have soured me on college sports forever.
