Coaching: D (It was a -C until the game first Georgetown with terrible late game coaching and today where they just didnt care_
Expectations: D (Team is the same as last year with a year of experience under our belt)
Guard Play B (Some days we are great and smart, some days we are great and stupid, and that Stupidity caused us games against ND and G-Town)

Overall: No grade can be given yet,  But if we lose in the first round of the tourney F.  If we lose in the 2nd round of the tourney C

IF we lose in the Regionals B

Given the projected seed and history of first round games under Crean when seeded 5 or worse, get ready for that F.

How are you grading "expectations?" Are you saying we achieved a "B" based on what was expected of this team? There's no way.

Of course, that's not to say we underachieved. The problem is that expectations were raised to unrealistic levels.

We're simply not a talented group compared to other teams in our conference. We don't have a single player that projects to play in the NBA. We can pay lip service to somebody sneaking into the second round, but come on. These guys are way too small and shoot way too erratically to be taken seriously.

Crean does a good coaching job...a B is probably realistic (maybe a B-), but he gets a D for recruiting in my book.

Expectations were high coming into this season, and rightly so.  If Marquette had shown more than incremental improvement, a top 4 finish in the BE was expected.  One could argue that the level of competition has also improved in the BE, but did anyone reasonably expect NotreDame, Connecticut, or West Virginia to be better than Marquette?

Coaching - C (the team made a slight improvement, but not much from 2007)

Guards- C (shooting was probably more consistent, but not much better than 2007)

Post Players - D (Is it possible that Barro declined from 2007, shades of Scott Merrit)

Other Factors - B (Hayward was a bright spot, and they never lost to a truly lesser team)

Overall - BC (the team slightly underperformed, but beating UW earns them a bonus point and a charitable BC grade)

Might give the team a better grade by going 2-1 in the Big East and 2-1 in the NCAA's.

I figured we would be 23-7 22-8 range. So they met my expectations, exceeding them is doing better. I did call the Marquette would not get the 5 seed in the BE Tourney as well.

a B for coaching?  MU is 2-3 in games decided by 5 points or less, so he is below average when the games are on the line.  If the team craps the bed in the Big East Tourney and NCAA again, that is all on Crean.

0-1 vs GU
0-2 vs UL
1-1 v ND
0-1 v UConn
0-1 v WVU

so we didn't have any bad Losses...didn't have many good wins in conference either....

To me this team needs to be more on an even keel. But, we probably have to play on that emotional ledge, because we are undermanned against the top teams.

I give him a "B" for coaching a team that is not very talented to an 11-7 record. Of course, he's the guy that recruited the very average and undersized talent (across the board, not just the frontcourt) on the team. I think preparation is part of coaching and that's where he's good.
