Hah, that wasn't on the news just one night.  That grabbed the attention of the real-news-starved local media for at least 5 nights. 

What happened, who was the victim .. what porn was he watching, why did the guy have a sword, what was he thinking, the 911 call, a minute by minute play by play, the attacker's history, his side of things, what his parents think of him .. interviews with the porn guy's parents, the arraignment .. on and on.
