Are you running it?

I understand that feeling well.

No - I ran it in 2017 and am now trying to do marathons in all the states so no repeat states for me for now.  I am running in Des Moines next week.

Good luck!

Ended up squeaking in with a 4:29 and some change today. I'm dead
Assume what I say should be in teal if it doesn't pass the smell test for you.

How'd it go?!

What's tougher, moving 300 feet in 5 hours of pickleball or 138,435 feet in a marathon over 2.5-6 hours?

It was good - main goal was to finish under the time limit and get in another state.  17th state and 20th marathon overall accomplished :).  Weather was pretty good - could have used a bit more shade but it wasn't super hot.

I wasn't happy to find out during the race that their time limit went by gun time and not chip time.  With the corral start, I didn't start until 15 minutes after the gun went off so there's 15 minutes lost towards the time limit.  I've never done a race where they went by gun time for their time limit and am not sure I would have signed up for this race had I known that.  But I never got close enough to the time limit to worry if this would count for me.

This was probably my worst marathon training so far when it comes to my long runs - had a few aborted long runs.  But I felt pretty strong during the race and never doubted I'd make it.

I was annoyed with a couple big hills early on after they advertised the race as flat :).  But overall it wasn't too hilly.  I did a hilly marathon in April in Knoxville and didn't want to deal with another hilly one again so soon.

Love to hear the report! So...what state is next?

Not sure yet.  It's getting harder to find the right race between finding a date that works, a friendly time limit and a state that I haven't done yet (although there's still plenty to choose from with only 17 states done so far).

I just threw my name in for Berlin. Because Id love a reason to go to Octoberfest

Good luck!  That sounds like it would be a fun adventure.

I was just doing some google research and Cowtown in Fort Worth at the end of February caught my eye.  That would mean a tough winter training schedule though.  I could do Palm Beach, FL in December but am hesitant to do another one this year.  When I did marathons one month apart in spring 2024, my second marathon in that sequence did not go very well.
