The Sultan

And a local high school legend. It's fine.

Don't get me started on Brian Winters.

Not that I really care whose numbers the Bulls retire, as I'm neither a fan nor a hater. But a franchise that won 6 NBA titles retiring the number of a guy who only played 5 full seasons while experiencing no real team success seems like a pretty low bar to me.

Joakim Noah was with the Bulls for 9 seasons. Defensive Player of the Year. First-team All-NBA. Top-5 MVP voting. Averaged 10+ rebounds over his final 7 seasons with the Bulls. Career cut short by injury. Retire his number?

If the Bulls want to, yes.

Of course it's fine. And of course if the Bulls want to, they should retire anyone's and everyone's number.

The Bucks retired a lot of pretty good player jerseys.  I kind of like it as a reason for younger fans to learn a history of a team.  You could, of course, do a ring of honor as well, but potato, Dan Quayle

Noah vs Rose makes sense on paper but not if you have eyes.

The only MVP in Bulls history not named MJ and youngest MVP.  Also ROY.  At a time where the Bulls had won 1 playoff series in 15 years post MJ.  And for the eye test you mention, from 09-12 he was absolute must watch television.  I'd argue despite his very brief peak and limited playoff accomplishments, he's one of the more transcendent and impactful players for the NBA in the last 20 years.

FWIW, my colleagues in Indonesia are NBA crazy and basketball culture there is huge.  After Curry and Lebron, my friend said Rose was EASILY the most popular player/jersey you saw when he was in HS and university there in the early 2010s

Rose's MVP season was unbelievable theater. Legit unguardable on the drive. Those teams were genuinely a blast to watch besides Noah's shooting motion.

Rose really didn't understand how to take no for an answer!

Malik Beasley is going to get paid.  Either by an NBA team or by those who leveled the false accusations against him.

Will Rose be able to walk out onto the court for the jersey retirement?
