Quote from: JWags85 on July 09, 2025, 11:36:24 AMIts entertaining.  Way more corny and eye rolling than Ozark, but not bad.  Topher Grace is fantastic.  Not a particularly unique and ground breaking way to play his character, but still very well executed nonetheless and steals most every scene.

We watched episode four last night when Grady was introduced. My wife immediately said, "so Eric dumped Donna and became a drug kingpin. Does Red approve?"

He was really good.

A friend played a bit role in episode 1 of The Waterfront.  His actual last name is Dickert but he couldn't have "dick" in his name while trying to make it in Hollywood.  Pretty weird if you ask me.

Pretty dope to say you have a friend that got graphically blasted in the head for a major Netflix production.

Started watching Ballard, Maggie Q's spinoff of Bosch. If you liked Bosch you'll like this show on Amazon. All 10 episodes in one drop.

Introduced the 18 year old to Dogma.  I own the DVD.

Last week, I introduced the 24yr old to Tropic Thunder since she loves Ben Stiller, Jack Black and RDJ.
She thought it was hilarious and is "looking for more classics".

Quote from: 21Jumpstreet on July 04, 2025, 11:09:31 AMSeason 4 of The Bear is incredible. I have never seen something so perfectly depict anxiety, pain, self doubt, love, confidence, fear, and specifically as it relates to owning and operating restaurants and how it affects everything, everything. It was as though I was watching my own 25 year restaurant career and seeing myself how others saw me and seeing all my internal emotions with my own eyes. My teary eyes. Incredible show.

4 episodes in and its capitvating stuff yet again.  With all the ups and downs in reception to portions of seasons and episodes, its still amazing to watch a show grow and evolve the way it has.  They really get such unreal performances out of everyone.

Everyone has talked about how its launched Jeremy Allen White's solid, to that point, career into the stratosphere.  But it also just got Ebon Moss-Bachrach, who had been a consistently working but very much interchangeable bit player, into a lead in the new Fantastic Four movie and 2 subsequent Avengers films.  Plus a lead on Broadway opposite Jon Bernthal.  Very much deserved cause what he's done with Richie is just remarkable acting and character development.

I'm not much for horror, so I likely won't see it, but I'm fascinated by Zach Cregger's reinvention.  Was a founder of Whitest Kids You Know, does a bunch of comedy, and makes a lame teen sex movie that flops. Spends the next decade doing a few comedy genre acting roles.  Then writes and directs Barbarian which was a surprise hit, well reviewed, and made a bunch of money.  Good enough that it creates one of the hottest bidding wars for a horror film ever for Weapons.  And it seems like it lived up to all the hype.

The reboot of King of the Hill has been really well done and very entertaining.

A Man Inside was pretty good on Netflix. A few overlapping actors between the two.

I've enjoyed Alien: Earth so far.

The Xenomorph is lot more terrifying when there are lots of people grouped together.

Randomly started re-watching Californication (don't even know remember how or why I started).  It's as ridiculous and entertaining as I remember.  But holy crap its aged hilariously bad.  Some of the juvenile dialogue would make people clutch their pearls till they disintegrated.

Wow, folks were right.  Severance is pretty damn amazing, just binged season 1, and season 2 is on deck.
