My son attends MU and received notice he can buy Big East Tourney tickets at a great price. Question having never attending a BET game at MSG, does the university offer any blocks of hotels rooms or are there reasonably priced places to stay near MSG? Recommendations? Short of going out to the internet and searching random hotels near by, I thought I'd check with the group here to see if there are any recommendations. Thanks in advance. Also apologize if this isn't the right place to post within the muscoop ecosystem

I'm sure there's some older threads with a bunch of info from previous years, but here's some recent discussion:

Would need to see this pricing to determine if truly good... (including the need to buy all session?)

It really depends on how you want to roll. If you are just getting a room as a home base to sleep in, there are a lot of options out there.. not super cheap ones that I'd recommend, but a lot of spots say near Times Square where you can walk to the games, walk to Broadway, etc.. super easy and relatively reasonable prices. Watch for property fees and what they include... if you get say a $20 voucher per day per person, just make sure to plan to use it at their bar, etc.

Pricing for games if you just buy individually can vary dramatically based on the teams playing. Of course, we won't play Wednesday.. but Thursday and Friday the sessions are two games each. If you've got a St J, UCONN, Providence with you.. will see prices escalate.

When we won the championship.. night one we played StJ and prices were up there.. night two vs. UCONN they jumped in a big way. I think for the championship game (X), I paid 30% of what I paid for the semis tickets, and had waaaay better seats. It just depends.

This year, who knows. I think if CU and MU are together at night with St J and UCONN in the early session, Thursday might be OK... after that, helloooo high $'s.. so might be a good year to utilize the MU angle for purchase if available.
The portal is NOT closed.

I don't have a rec for a specific hotel. My only rec is that the student ticket price is usually amazing for this. Take advantage. He'll be sitting in front of people who paid easily 10, 20, 30x for their tickets.

Find any hotel in mid-town, and you'll be fine.

or anywhere on a subway line that goes near the garden. We stayed in financial district one year. Cheap on weekends, well comparatively, and easy subway ride to the garden.

True. I was thinking more for the tourist experience outside of games, but even then there's pull further downtown as well.
