The Selection Committee had some pretty clear messages in their Saturday reveal in terms of which metrics they are focused on, the value of wins vs metrics, and how far into the week they are willing to consider new information. We explore those takeaways and have a new S-Curve and bracket reflecting what we learned.

I know these are just predictions with a lot of basketball left to be played, but a game against Drake in the first round has all sorts of red flags. Arizona in the second I would be fine with.

So I can't comment on any of it except the mention of MU as a close consideration did me good and where I expected them to be right now. We are set up a decent seed if we play decent. So it's on MU.

I will say I'm happy for Buzz. I like him and root for his success.

You can comment on whatever you want. As can I.

But imagine actually rooting for Buzz...  ::)

Inexcusable! Unacceptable! as one scooper might describe the way Buzz left. No question the guy can coach, but he gave Marquette and the BE the finger on his way out.

And for all of the complaints about how Crean left, Buzz's departure was 100 times worse. And lets just say some of the stuff that happened when he was around...  Yikes.

Might as well get ahead of this as it tumbles into another former head coach thread...

I actually wish well for all former MU head coaches, and I was glad to see that Wojo seems to be doing well where he's at too. Steve always seemed like a good guy and it's hard to not wish him the best imo.

I hope one day Shaka will bring him back to celebrate Markus and be a part of Marquette again, and I hope the fans are mature enough to not be fickle, which I know is a monumental task.

As for Buzz- he was entertaining and brought us all great memories and soundbites, it was fun while he was around.
I sort of wish he gave some credit to Marquette for opening their door and giving him his big break and I'd like for him to be back celebrating his era as well.
He seems like he's matured.

Never had any issue with Crean. I know some said he was tough to deal with, as was Buzz, but results wise both brought great things to Marquette.
Love how Tom is super supportive to this day

Buzz putting his name out there for Indiana 5 minutes after they announce Woodson isn't going to return makes he think he really hasn't changed. Can't speak to how he runs his program and if that has changed, but as find has gone on, he's the coach I've lost respect for, as opposed to Crean who I've only come to appreciate more.

The Sultan

Yeah all of the sudden you had people like Gregg Doyel bringing up Buzz's Bunch. I'm sure it's just a coincidence. 🙄🙄🙄

I'll agree with that.

Those seasons just brought such great memories that it's hard to not want to root for the guy because he brought the goods.

That said, if I had to rank them based on just being a good guy overall he would be bringing up the rear. Amazing motivator of college kids with a chip on their shoulder though

I accept blame for diverting this thread. Maybe shouldn't have mentioned Buzz (I still like him).

But to get back on it. What do you think about the SEC...mega conference dominates high seeds and BIG 10 not too bad. It used to be just UK and FL or maybe TN for SEC bball.

I wonder if this tourney will be pivotal for the mega conferences as the BE championships fade?  I got a bad feeling.

I am wishing all 4 BE teams can make the sweet16 to "keep our influence". Those 5/6 SEC team high seeds just struck me.

They're the best teams.  Simple as that.

The Big East just isn't strong enough this year for a few reasons.

1. St. John's didn't test themselves o-o-c.  I'd bet Pitino is fine with that and understands why they are in the bracket where they are.  Sometimes you schedule to rack w's and confidence.

2. Creighton and UConn failed their o-o-c tests.  Creighton's best win is Kansas and Kansas has been up and down.  Both challenged themselves but didn't do enough.

3. Marquette did win o-o-c but the 3-game losing streak dropped them.  If they go 2-1, they're a protected seed.

Big East was disrespected in the selection process last year, and showed the world that it was a big mistake.

What UConn did to the field was complete carnage, and everyone associated with NCAAb knows that.
That was their second consecutive.
The BE also had excellent runs by Creighton and Marquette. If MU had beaten NCSt it would have been even more impressive.

My opinion is that the BE is getting disrespected yet again.
I understand that the out of conference showing was generally abysmal, and that the computers think otherwise, but results matter.
You could argue that the last few seasons of results don't mean squat to this seasons NCAAt, but I could argue that with Dan Hurley, Shaka Smart, Rick Pitino, and Greg McDermott the Big East has the best collection of high end coaching talent in America, and that matters in March.

I suspect that this season the BE yet again has 4 potential Sweet 16 squads, and I wouldn't be at all surprised to see 2 in the Elite 8 or Final 4.
Could the BE win a 3rd consecutive NCAA Championship? Most would say nah not this year, but I'd say sure, why not?
Would take some lucky bounces and a few of the teams to figure it out a bit in the last stretch here, but it's certainly possible.
Of the 4, I'm least confident in Creighton making a deep run but McDermott is a wizard, so I wouldn't say it's out of the question.

Disrespect the Big East at your own peril, and something tells me we will see that again this season.

The Big East hasn't been very good and I'd be shocked to see even a Final Four team, let alone 2 or a national champion. We've gotten the proper amount of respect. The committee has to pay attention to results. Last year and this year the Big East wasn't good in the non conference.

The downhome lonesome cowboy following the Crean path and going to Indiana? Somehow that fit feels awkward. I thought Wardle had the inside handle.
I thought you were dead. Willie lives rent free in Reekers mind. Rick Pitino: "You can either complain or adapt."
