Uncle Rico

The legendary St. John's coach passed away at the age of 99 today.  One of the original legends of the league.  Of those guys, Boeheim is the last of them.

All of the Big East coaches need to wear ugly sweaters in tribute.

RIP.

All those coaches died?  Isn't P.J alive?  99 is a pretty good run.  RIP Lou.

Big 4 were Boeheim, Rollie, JT and Lou.  Thought as I posted the topic about PJ and Pitino but PJ success came late in the Big East heyday and Pitino bolted

Ahhh.  Rollie seemed like a cool guy.

Yeah PJ did mostly nothing for the Big East doormat for most of his time there but put together a few good years and jumped for the NBA.

Lou was a huge part of The Big East early success. Johnnies were celebrated in NYC

Was hoping he could have made it to 100 .

Here is an excellent obituary

My favorite part of the story was that he said he was a teacher, and that was why he was more suited as a coach to the college game vs. the pros. Reminds me of a coach in Milwaukee.

Lou's the last one whose life we should honor, though, so that's something

Louie and Al share a close bond. True characters and gentlemen the likes of we'll never see again on the sidelines. They're having a laugh together on a court in Heaven right now.
