Quote from: JWags85 on April 28, 2025, 10:35:06 PMPretty confident before the season starts in the fall that we're gonna find out the whole cutesy random chance meeting on a plane that started their relationship is either an outright fabrication at best, or cover for something a bit more lurid at worst.

Either way, it wouldn't be encouraging at all if I was a UNC booster.
Was that really Bill Belichick? Yikes! Maybe the NFL people knew something because I was very surprised he didn't get an NFL job, but this would explain that.

No it's not. I find this all very odd. At first it seemed like it was just an old guy with a hot, young girlfriend - whatever.

But if this were just a random guy or a friend, it gives the impression that he is being manipulated or used somehow.

And I never thought this made a lot of sense for North Carolina, and honestly it has to seem worse now than it did prior.

It was always a poor idea. I give it two seasons.

From the Athletic:

"If the plan here was to portray Belichick as cool, what with his social media-savvy girlfriend fending off the old-school, on-set question asker, then the plan failed. Belichick instead came across as somebody who needed saving. And it's hard watching this interview while defending Belichick as the ever-vigilant micromanager who misses nothing.

Will this interview inspire the biggest and best recruits to take their talents to Chapel Hill? Doubt it. Will it help get Belichick back on the radar for a head coaching job in the NFL? That's looking less likely."

EDIT: And Paul Feinbaum apparently said today that people at UNC are alarmed at the whole situation right now - including the football.

Y'all will have egg on your faces when Brady announces he's playing for UNC this season.

And he'll take less NIL money to help Bill build a better team around him.

I'm not sure if he will now that the divorce really lowered his Household income.

Gisele was the breadwinner in that family.

Man. I said it yesterday but I truly wonder if BB is dealing with decreased mental capacity or something.

Not to play armchair psychologist, but we've talked about how BB's downfall in NE was largely due to his stubborn unwillingness to adapt to the game in some ways, but more refusing to admit he couldn't handle the combined GM/HC role anymore and the player assessment and acquisition suffered greatly from his prime.  Central to that was Belichick's "F you, I'm smarter than you, I know what I'm doing, don't question me" sort of attitude.  Again, it was great and powerful at his peak, but disastrous when he loses a step.

Fast forward now, I imagine he still has that attitude about nearly everything.  Enter the new GF, who says the right things, fawns over him and his ego, makes it her and the genius against everyone else, and here we are.  Would hardly be unique or uncommon among other leaders in history.  Seems also like this transition phase of his career/life post-NE would be prime for it as well.

Why Belichick of all people would be in the market for a sugar baby/escort that lead to more, I have no idea.  The whole situation is wild, regardless.  But it reads to me like what I described more than an onset of senility or something, even better "elder abuse" like Ive seen some dopes say online.
