Crean also said Marquette & GT only two teams to get 10 BE wins per season since the creation of the big BE

Pitt can join that duo with wins in three of its last five BE games.

20 wins isn't what it used to be. I'd say something like a .700 overall winning percentage is a better cage of an above-average season with the # of games teams play now. So something like 22 wins now is probably equitable to 20 wins from even as few as five years ago. Kind of like 1,000 yards in the NFL with the increase from the 12-game to the 16-game schedule.

But still a fine accomplishment on both counts none the less.

You mean the increase from a 14 game schedule to the current 16 game schedule.

14, yes, but 12 before that. If I recall correctly the NFL used to play 12 games a season back in the 50 and 60s. I guess the guy I'd always heard that argument associated with was Jim Brown as the greatest RB of all time in reference to 1,000 yards in a 12-game season.

NFL went to 14 games in 1961 and 16 games in 1978.

wasn't Deane fired after averaging 20 wins a season??   :)

Its all about the second season.
