Don't overthink it.  It is clearly something wildly inappropriate and somebody got most of the team with it.   Kids do silly things for laughs.   We all did way back when.  We didn't record it.

That's been a game going back to when I was in jr high 20yrs ago.

It's ridiculous but you'd get someone to look at your hand making that symbol if they look you got to slap them or punch them or pinch them pending who it was. Seems like the recourse has been lost on gen Z (are freshmen gen alpha now?)

It's the game. Thinking of the game loses you the game. Seeing the the hand held in a circle like that is a common way to remind others of the game. Sometimes theres a slap or something involved but its usually just living with the knowledge you have lost the game.
