Toshiba is out.  The writing has been on the wall for awhile, but really picked up steam the last 8 weeks.

Today Toshiba, who was backing the HD DVD devices, said no more.

Glad I made the right choice with our PS3 / Blu Ray

Microsoft has been developing a BluRay drive for the 360. But will Sony let them put it into production?

Same here, PS3 + HDTV = WOW!

I've been looking at that now...a PS3 costs the EXACT SAME as a standalone blue-ray player.  So why would anyone buy a standalone player when you can get a cool game system too for the same price.

Of course, the PS3 is a power HOG, but still...

It is a bit of a power hog, but we love it.  It's become sort of the media center for our HD set...pictures, music, video games, Blu Ray.

I think part of the reason for the power requirements are not only all of the processing chips, but the cooling system as well.  The XBOX 360 was overheating like crazy, whereas the PS3 doesn't have those issues.
