What a sad story. What upsets me most is that the parents don't have the final say and the health professionals rather than offering support in the end were adversarial. I am glad I live here where my wife"s and my wishes were the final say when we faced the exact same situation. What is missing from this story is why the health professionals did not explain the inevitable outcome in a more compassionate way as we were, and then asked the most heart aching question to scared parents; if we would consider organ donation.

Yeah I am not prepared to say parents should have the absolute final say either. No good answers here.
