Since there's a POY thread about Justin, I thought I'd start one speculating about COY.

At this point, it seems like a two-man race between Shaka and Cooley, right? Wright will always be in the mix too, but when you consider preseason expectations, I gotta think Shaka and Cooley are the frontrunners.

Others in the mix at this point?

Shaka will win it as Friars choke down the stretch.

Yeah ... there was this narrative that Cooley teams always get better as the year goes on. Until the records actually were looked up, and the opposite was shown to be true.

That's it, that's the current mix.

The two will face off again on Saturday... err Sunday.

Who's currently in the lead is probably a bit hazy, but a win this weekend for either can "snowball" into a lock status.

PS: Wonder if in Cooleys wildest dreams he would've envisioned a race against Shaka for BECoY this season when he was celebrating Marquettes big win earlier in the year during his post game presser...

I  doubt he would have given it a nanosecond of thought.

It's Shaka or Cooley, but I would stress that 4 of PC's 7 wins are against the dregs of the conference, whereas Shaka still has most of those games coming up. Beat them Sunday and it'll work itself out when Providence's schedule toughens up.

BallBoy

Providence will fall back in the standings as they have to play MU, Villanova x 2, Creighton and Xavier.  The only thing that might fall in Providence's favor is winning percentage.  They currently have three games postponed against Creighton, Seton Hall and UConn.  Those easily could be three loses and they have not yet been rescheduled.  2 of the 3 were road games.

Expecting that those games will not be made up for Providence. An absolute gift for them when it comes to BET seeding.

I think they should sort by win total then percentage instead of just percentage.

Agree for example I think Creighton last year (14-6) deserved it over nova (11-4)

That's I was going somewhat nuts yesterday. If it's going to be based on win % I didn't want them to have another edge.

I also think Creighton deserved it over Nova last year.  And I hate Creighton haha.

Cooley would do the same thing today—high character guy.
