The one that Marquette and Wisconsin really missed on was Tyrese Haliburton.

What was Buzz's or the assistants' mentality that they thought telling a local 5 star he wasn't athletic enough was a good idea?

I mean in the very least the guys clearly a ridiculously skilled basketball player that would be worth keeping the door ope with. Did they use some pick up artist "put them down so they want you" concept for recruiting?

I don't think Dekker was a 5 star when Marquette still had a shot with him.  He committed to Wisconsin going into his junior year of high school (I believe) and I don't think he was thought of as a very top prospect until going into his senior season.

Didn't remember that thanks.

Hearing the guys Buzz missed on and thinking about the ones he got makes me wonder why so many think Woj is such a great recruiter?

Who has woj got that could have seen a Buzz line-up when he was the coach?

Howard -Stan
Hausers- Woj?
Katin- woj
Etc

Not sure if any of wojos recruits could start on anyone of Buzz's teams except his last year.

Pretty much any of the PGs could've started over Derrick on the final team

Most Scoopers who don't hate Wojo with every fiber of their being think Wojo has been a decent to good recruiter, not a great one at all. Calipari and Self are "great" recruiters; Wojo ain't that, and neither was Buzz.

Wojo has landed two burger boys, both of whom would have started for Buzz. The Hausers. Markus. Lewis. Theo. Buzz would have loved Sacar. Katin. Probably Cheatham. Probably Rowsey. Buzz probably would have turned Koby into Lockett.

I mean, Buzz started Jake Thomas and Derrick Wilson in the backcourt together for an entire freakin' season. Dwight Burke started an entire season for Buzz. Scoopers hated Lockett for 2 months but Buzz started him. Buzz recruited Mbao. He started Otule for 10 years.

I really liked Buzz when he was our coach, and he obviously was far superior to Wojo, but let's not make believe that Buzz recruited and played only studs.

Also something tells me Sandy Cohen would've seen a Buzz line up.

I'm pretty confident Hank, Howard, the Hausers, and Dawson could've started for any number of Buzz's teams.

He was a Buzz recruit, but don't think he was a miss. I think we were all hands on deck for that one and he chose FSU.

I'd call a miss more the ones we didn't pursue hard or at all that were interested in Marquette.

Gotcha. I was thinking guys we were all in on and missed out on. Makes sense.

Isn't missing on Dekker the reason he went so hard after Cohen, who was a pretty under the radar small town guy when he committed? Too bad he didn't stick around too.

The Elite 8 team was crying for a Markus Howard type.

Could have single handily won that Syracuse game for us shooting over the Zone.

That's what made that Davidson come back so incredible. Jamil and Vander hit some really tough shots. Granted, we were well below our average 3 Pt % at that point, so they were due.

I guess my questions was more geared toward specifically wojo recruits.  Meaning Howard was Stan's guy, I'm pretty sure hausers were wojos, etc

I guess if I play that game than I'd have to do the same with Buzz's recruits and assistant coaches.

I guess buzz was just a superior coach, and could get the most out of his talent unlike his replacement

So Wojo doesn't get credit for the players his assistant's recruit???

LOL, that's something...

Never once did I say he doesn't get credit.  Not once.

It's a hypothetical game I was trying to play, and that went right over Sultans head.

If we compare Buzz's recruits and wojos recruits.  Who was better?  That's my question. Not Stan, not Monarch, etc

LOL.

Everyone Wojo signs as head coach is a "Wojo recruit."

Wojo is not a good coach.  You don't have to play with words to make him seem worse.
