Safe bet this is not the last time we are going to read a story like this.

The University of Notre Dame is canceling in-person classes and moving them online for at least two weeks after seeing a surge in coronavirus cases.

On Monday, one week after classes began, 80 students tested positive out of 418, or 19% of students tested.

The rash of cases has been linked to at least two off-campus parties, and the majority of students testing positive are senior undergraduates, mostly male, said school spokesman Paul Browne.

Sparty, too.

Over 150 cases linked to one bar at MSU over the summer and the administration thought they'd keep things under control once the frats were back in action?

the MSU President is a doctor with a background in infectious diseases. I trust his decisionmaking on this one.

Two down. All of them to go.

I live next to a house rented by five rising sophomore boys. They've had 5 parties in since moving in two Fridays ago. The smallest party had at least 30 people away it.

NC State, App State, and Iowa State are the latest reporting outbreaks.

Mack Brown made an excellent point (if you're a sports fan): having students off-campus creates a bubble and gives us a better chance of having sports in the fall and winter.

Shutting down dorms, frats and University owned apartments solves part of the problem but plenty of students live "off campus" but in the neighborhood.  How do you police Renee Row, Strack, the Kensington, The Wet Spot, The Hold-up House, The Miller House, The Ranch, The Light House, Blue Door, Red Door, Gray Door, The Yellow House and the Alabama apartments, etc?

He is correct. He is also giving fuel to the athletes' arguments that they should be paid.
