Schedule for 2026-27

Cheeks

4 teams have made it 20 straight years
6 teams (the four above + 2 more) have made it 9 of 10 years
10 teams (the six above + 4 more) have made it 5 straight years

That's it.  10 teams have made it 5 straight years.

Kansas
Duke
Michigan State
Gonzaga
Cincinnati
North Carolina
Villanova
Kentucky
Virginia
Purdue

I expect at least two and maybe as many as four to not keep that streak going after this year.  Plus you have the NCAA potentially dealing KU with their own upcoming vacancies.

Want more fun, only 20 schools have made it 3 years or more in a row currently.  20 out of 353...~6%.   32 schools have made it 2 years or more in a row or ~9%. Everyone else is working off a streak of 1 or zero.  This is college basketball in 2020....things have changed.
"I hate everything about this job except the games, Everything. I don't even get affected anymore by the winning, by the ratings, those things. The trouble is, it will sound like an excuse because we've never won the national championship, but winning just isn't all that important to me." Al McGuire

Cheeks

One school in the country has a streak of five Sweet 16's in a row.  ONE. Gonzaga

Four schools can claim three straight Sweet 16's.  Gonzaga, Kentucky, Purdue and Michigan.

Marquette's BEST Sweet 16 streak ever....4 years in the 1970's.

Marquette's BEST streak of winning at least one game in the tournament.....9 straight.   1970's.
