We returned 72 minutes of NCAA tournament experience this year from 2017 (14 of those minutes didn't even play).

I wonder if having only two players play with real March experience was an issue. Perhaps last years team would've been more equipped because Rowsey, Howard, Sam and Heldt all would've been returning from 2017.

Not saying this is the only reason we lost or is even a reason at all but just something I thought should be pointed out.
Retire Terry Rand's jersey!

Matchups. Terrible matchup for us.  Nevada, Nova, Louisville, etc all lose likely to Murray State yesterday.  I know Auburn beat them at home this year, but I have to think on a neutral court they don't pull it off either yesterday.

So many blaming MU on this.....people need to give credit to the other team, too.  Feels like South Carolina two years ago until folks realized a few weeks later that they were on an epic run.
"I hate everything about this job except the games, Everything. I don't even get affected anymore by the winning, by the ratings, those things. The trouble is, it will sound like an excuse because we've never won the national championship, but winning just isn't all that important to me." Al McGuire

Bucchannon played 31min in last year's NCAA (39 yesterday)
Morant played 36min (39 yesterday)
Sanchious 12 (8 yesterday)
Gillmore and Whitley each played a minute last year as well. (14 and 1 yesterday)

81 minutes returning from their NCAA appearance turned into 105 min yesterday

72 min returning from our NCAA appearance two years ago turned into 75 min yesterday

This isn't me blaming anyone but pointing out that maybe tournament experience matters

A "bad matchup" is not why we got our doors blown off yesterday. We would have lost to almost every team in the field the way we played.

MU had all the potential in the world to avoid the matchup with Murray State by not losing so many games down the stretch.

Silent Verbal

A bad matchup?  So what, are we just supposed to wait for the one year Wojo magically gets a bunch of great matchups and guides us to a Championship?

You play who the NCAA assigns you to play.  If we hadn't crapped the bed the last three weeks of the season, maybe Wojo would've gotten a more favorable matchup.

Also, pointing out other teams who "likely would've lost" to Murray State is useless.  MU got their asses kicked, not those other teams.
