40% of the conference mad it, in a "down year"...I'll take it.  Broke out pretty much like I thought except Nova's seed is a eye opener.

"I hate everything about this job except the games, Everything. I don't even get affected anymore by the winning, by the ratings, those things. The trouble is, it will sound like an excuse because we've never won the national championship, but winning just isn't all that important to me." Al McGuire

MU rewarded for beating ranked teams OOC.   Not punished much for close losses.

I mean...St. John's was the last team in, so 3 wasn't exactly a stretch.

True, but Creighton, Xavier were also in the conversation this week....there were people here that actually thought only 2 were going to get in.

Plus they indicated NET was going to be a bigger influence on selection. SJU NET 73.

St John's was literally the last team in the tournament and Seton Hall was the underdog against MU (both times) and Nova (last reg season game). It's good for the conference that Seton Hall went 3-0 in those games but had they gone 1-2 they would most likely have been out of the field (maybe the last team in). Up until the last week, there was definitely a clear path for there to be only 2 teams from the big east included. Thankfully, it didn't pan out that way.

Yeah, I figured they were not going to make it with that 73, particularly with teams in the 30s and 40s left out.  I think with ASU an Buffalo they have a reasonable shot at the round of 32.

I was the only one that said there would be only 2 teams from the big east. So I am here to say that I was wrong. I also did not see Marquette slipping the way that they did. They were single handedly responsible for getting St. Johns and Seton Hall into the dance. So although I did say 2 I was not that far off. St. Johns still does not belong in the field but that is beyond that point now.

Also, I understand conference pride in some people. I for one could not care less how the big east teams do even if it generates more money for MU. More money for MU does not mean the team is going to be any better or get better recruits.

A strong Big East benefits Marquette in the long run.  I want our conference brethren to do well when not playing us, except maybe Seton Hall this year.
