First the obvious downside- fumbled away a Big East Championship.
Unless SH helps on sat and MU helps itself, that dream will sadly go by the wayside.

Now, 60-58, 54-52, 64-60. Last three games, Marquette lead at the under 4 minute mark. Obviously they blew it. That's two away games to tourney teams, one being defending champ Nova, another being Miles Powell going Markus, and a home game to payback hungry Creighton.

MU could've went 3-0. Should've won one but 1-2 in this scenario woulda been expected without the heightened expectations.

Listen, Marquette got a lot of bounces earlier in the year. The team won a lot of close ones, and in the last week they have been going the other way. All Marquette's reach equilibrium.

This team is still the team we thought they were before these three games- better than we expected pre season, not quite as unbeatable as they had been before the three game stretch, but still a damn good team.

As the trolls come out of the woodwork, all the bandwagon fans jump back off calling the team, coach, all American star Markus a farce and an epic collapse, the true fans (not to go all guru on this) will remain proud of the accomplished and calm and poised for a nice late season run. If/when that run comes you can believe many of these 'sky is falling' types will be telling everyone they know they are big Marquette fans.

We are marquette.

The other teams have found out how to stop MU, now it is up to the coaching staff to figure how to play against it.

Jesus man thats a real "seashells and baloons" way of looking at this collapse

Right now depaul is murdering gtown that with the way we are playing are bound to struggle with.  I would not even wAnt to play depaul in the beast tourney at this point

Quality teams dont piss away opportunities like this very often.

This is the best DePaul team in many years. This is also the best Gtown team in quite a few years and yes, MU will have its hands full on Saturday. Your point?

Omg please play Pantelis Xidias. Depaul is almost up 40.

Both teams were walking out the clock.  He was doing jumping jacks and waving to the crowd to get up and cheer him.  Govan and the Hoyas on the bench had the look of "let's get up and go clock the clown".

Well, he's right. Anyway, I don't know that there's one team in the Big East this year that cannot beat anybody else in the league. Can't remember the last time that's happened. The competition is top notch. So to your point, I don't think any team is even clamoring to play DePaul this year. Should be a fantastic BE tournament - wish we had some gimmes, but not in the cards.

The age old argument about a conference being "strong at the top" versus "balanced throughout." Often times, balanced throughout is stated as a down year or weak conference.

BE this yr is clearly extremely well balanced top to bottom, much more so than years past, while it's top teams don't project as strong as years past.

If I recall, last yrs narrative of the BE was "strong at the top" (two 1 seeds) but loaded with weak teams elsewhere. Conversely, the B10 was not as strong  at the top with everyone beating each other up and some called it "weak" while others called it "balanced."

For what it's worth one team from each conference made the Final, with the BE team prevailing. There's really no one formula that makes for better results in the bid dance imo, it's just matchup and timing based
