I do know, Newsie is right on you knowing ball.

Matt Daum is the most underrated player in college basketball.  De'Andre Hunter isn't too far behind.

Grimes at 21.  Wow! what might have been.  MU with a backcourt of 2 top 25 guys.

Ponds has played against us 4x. He completely annihilated us once, had two decent games against us, and had one pretty bad game against us. St. John's was 2-2 in those games.

Markus has shot better than Ponds by every possible metric, crushes him in the all-telling eFG%.

I don't watch much St. John's basketball; indeed, I have seen Ponds in only the 4 games against us. So I'll ask my fellow Scoopers: Is he really a better player than Markus, as many of the all-American projections seem to suggest?

No.

But he's a flashier player in getting his buckets and the college basketball media is beyond desperate for St. John's to be relevant so Ponds gets a ton of extra attention which leads to rankings like this.

Yes.  Markus is the much better scorer but Ponds is better in pretty much every other facet of the game. I would be curious what ponds shooting splits would be if he had weapons like Markus does around him. We might find out this season

Mike Daum isn't bad either  8-)

I don't know how he keeps flying under the radar.  Two time player of the year in conference as a So and Jr, honorable mention AA those years, and he has been good to great each time they've been in the NCAA tourney.  He was a monster against OSU, singlehandedly kept them in that game.

Jeff Goodman's Top 30 Shooters in the country. Markus at #2 and Sam at #12. Honestly, Sam may be too low on that list.

Markus may be too low.  Seems like the only difference between him and #1 is 5" of height and one more year of data.  Markus's stats are better. (45.4% from 3, 92% from the stripe).
I mean, OK, maybe he's secretly a serial killer who's pulled the wool over our eyes with his good deeds and smooth jumper - Pakuni (on Markus Howard)

Herman Cain

Sam has incredible form on his shot and he consistently applies it. I am cautiously optimistic that JC will be able to get him the ball in places he likes to shoot.
