It was long a sore spot for MUScoop, but my hard-hitting analysis shows that Wojo has been focusing some serious practice time on free throw shooting. Check out the following chart:

As you can see our program had a big problem with free throw shooting. bottoming out at 64.5% in '14-'15. Wojo has come in and righted the ship, making sure the team has improved every year under his excellent FT tutelage. This is clearly because we are spending significant time every practice on our free throws.

"This can't possibly be a coaching issue, right?" one might say. I would answer a question with a question, "What are the Hokies shooting this year from the line?"

68.4%

That's right. We've been there before and we know how frustrating it can be. I, for one, am very happy that Wojo has such a good head for FT shooting strategy. Clearly, he learned some valuable lessons from his time under Coach K.

Thanks, very interesting.

Its because Wojo has recruited good shooters.

Not because they use valuable practice time to work on free throws.

I would take the Rick SLU program right now.

The Lens

This is fantastic analysis but you left out one very important metric:

Crean Sucks
The Teal Train has left the station and Lens is day drinking in the bar car.    ---- Dr. Blackheart

History is so valuable if you have the humility to learn from it.    ---- Shaka Smart

KampusFoods

Makes you wonder how much FTs even matta

NotAnAlum

All very well and good.  BUT how are they doing on paint touches?  Lets see a graph of that.

I thought the original topic and analysis must have been a joke.

Wojo would laugh at this......when you recruit Sam Hauser , Markus Howard, Reinhardt and Rowsey you are going to be a good free throw shooting team if they are the guys going to the line most often.

If teams start putting Theo and Morrow  on the line a lot our numbers will change in a hurry.

The one guy who really improved at the line was Heldt.....but he shoots so few of them that it won't impact the team percentage much.

Hope Sacar improves his FT's.

Might want to check which coach has been to the dance more often.

Coach K?

Can we get an analysis of his free throw shooting practice time.  That should finally put this issue to bed.

Thanks for the chuckle, Ska. Well done.

I realize you're joking, but here's an analysis about how FT defense *may* actually exist

TEAM not player though. Of course that's real. I could absolutely foul the crap out of your team's crappy FT% and influence your team's FT%.

But...
