Well no one has really regularly kept the in-state recruits in Indiana since the 1980s anyway.  Knight was losing them with regularity as well.  (Eric Montross being the earliest most notable.)  It really is a somewhat irrational expectation of a lot of IU fans.
Dont disagree but it got really bad for crean.  Akin to wojo getting the random 3 star from wisconsin while 4-5 stars go elsewhere.  Hard comparison tho as the instate talent in indiana is so much deeper

Don't forget the on campus arena...

President Lovell hasn't...

Doesn't Lovell know the Scoop rules against discussing an on-campus arena?

Thanks for the article. It was a good read, but I do seriously question the claim that people from all over the country now recognize Marquette because of our lacrosse team.

Fun to claim it, fun to think it, but please.

Lots of things get discussed.    Some even have studies done.    Until ground is broken, (and probably even after) I am skeptical that MU building an arena is a wise use of limited funds.

I don't disagree, more than anything creating some leverage with the Bucks owners.  That being said, once a President says it publically a lot of imaginations will run wild.  Some might even call up with donations.

I don't think the claim is overstated. You have to remember how big the lax universe is, it is small. I have two friends that played college lacrosse 15-20 years ago and they know all about MU's success in lax. You are right though.. good read, I hope Amplo hangs around for a while.

People recognize Marquette from all over the country because he fired McAdams; not so much the LAX team.

Sorry, could not help myself.

Lacrosse is a whole different world. Could you imagine Yale, Denver, Albany or Johns Hopkins appearing in the AP/Coach's Top 25 college basketball poll?

John Vassallo is an ESPN producer who says the sport of lacrosse is still developing. "The senior American sports have gotten the template down and it works. I still think lacrosse is in its infancy."

The LAX parents pretty much paid for The Al Annex.

Does he have to be to get an Indiana kid to go to IU for a year before going to the NBA?

I pondered this question for a few days.

Marquette and Wisconsin have had trouble with this in The past. So I don't think it's as simple as you made it sound
