Dr. Blackheart

Amen Brother UWW2MU. Thanks for your story and reminder about life.

As bearish on Wojo as I have been (and am), I do appreciate the fun brand of basketball we've played the last two years.  All of the kids seem to be very good representatives of MU.  The team played hard.  Wojo seems like a good guy.  He checks the boxes on a number of levels.  But, I feel the one box he doesn't yet check is the most important - ability to coach on the fly and adjust in-game accordingly.

I credit Wojo and staff for getting all of these players to MU.  Andrew will go down as one of my absolute favorite Warriors of the last 30 years.  Also on that list:  Devante, Jae, D-Wade, Aaron Hutchins, Damon Key.  Ooh.  And let's not forget John Dawson.

I do have to admit the NIT was fun, despite not being in the real tournament.

But, next year needs to be far better, and I think it will be.

UWW2MU:

Sincere condolences. You and your wife have been through something no parents should have to go through. I am glad that Warriors hoops was able to give you a break.

Here's hoping your life is filled with happiness, contentment and love.

Dear UWW2MU:

I am so deeply sorry for your loss.  Your story reminded me a lot of my own.  My wife and I lost our firstborn in 2012.

My son was born in September as well.  He lived 18 days.  He had a congenital birth defect that lead to several complications before his passing.

One of the first "fun" things my wife and I did was attend Marquette Madness.  Buzz made the famous "Sweet 16 ain't good enough anymore" comment that night.  The team went on to be Big East Co-Champions and made a run to the Elite 8.

Marquette basketball provided a nice distraction during a very dark time in my life.  I'm glad it was able to provide some distraction in yours.

Please PM if me you ever need someone to talk to.  I know how much of a shithole that first year can be.  You will be in my thoughts.

Sincerely,
Nick (Lazar's Headband)

So very sorry for your terrible loss UWW.  Glad #mubb could provide some sunshine for you and your wife this winter.

My prayer for you is that the cherished memories you have of your son will sustain you until you see him again many years from now.  God bless.  And we'll see you at Chaluparena next season.

UWW2MU

Sorry, I really did a number on hijacking this thread!

Thank you all for the kind words and Nick for sharing your story.   Hm... maybe Wojo can give a "Sweet 16 ain't good enough anymore" (or in this case, NIT or mere appearance at NCAA ain't good enough anymore) speech at the awards banquet and we can can have a breakout season this coming year!

Happily, I can report we're doing quite well overall and appreciate life all the more having been through this.

Thanks again everyone!
