Oh this was poor. But it was consistent. And that's what the NCAA wants. They don't want movement restricted. So this is what you get.

Well it's been what, 4 years since that change and hardly any team has adjusted.

Worst rule change to happen to college basketball.

And that's what the NCAA wants.

That's not at all what the NCAA wants.

I agree.  50 fouls called.  29-21.  FAvor of Oregon.  Today the refs bought in too much to the freedom of movement concept.  Way to quick with the whistle on touch fouls for both teams.

You would think.  But, 3 of their players play 80+% of all available minutes.  Not very deep team.

I felt Penn State was NCAA worthy, based on Pomeroy rating.  They are 28 on KenPom.  Expect the line to be MU +1 at best.

Interesting, thanks for pointing that out.

I wonder why PSU's KenPom is dramatically better than their RPI? They had some brutal losses, notably losing to Wisconsin, Rider, and Minnesota at home among others. And their entire resume is built on somehow going 3-0 against Ohio State; they only had a total of 3 other RPI top 100 wins. I guess a lot of it might have to do with KP being higher on Ohio State than RPI.

IMO, they definitely should not have been in the tournament, regardless of KP. Their resume is pretty significantly weaker than ours. That said, I expect it to be a much closer game.

I'm confused, did we win this game? I'm all for complaining about officiating, but it wasnt egregious in either direction.

That said, I concede we probably don't win this game if the fouls didn't reset each quarter.

Partially my fault sorry - Sultan will always defend refs and I just shouldn't engage.

Anyhow.  MU is going to be 1 of 24 teams still standing in the NCAA and NIT.  76 will have fallen.  Go Warriors!

Agree. I'm just hoping that if they want this trend to continue (which it seems they do), that they consider increasing the foul limit. I think that's only fair. Teams shouldn't have to be totally screwed just because they got to OT.

The RPI is stupid.

As for KenPom, a factor at play is margin of victory/loss... they lost only 2 regulation games by double digits. (As a comp, MU has done so 7 times this year).

Nonetheless, PSU had a favorable conference sked and they are not an impressive team. We could have trouble with Carr.. (Sacar?)... toss up game. Hit our treys and we've got a great chance to win.. we'll probably will be slight favorites.

Good info.  Pomeroy just posted forecast for the game, just as I thought - MU favored by 1.  77-76.

His 15.4% TO rate is very good.

Whats his turnover rate as the primary ball handler when rowsey is not in the game??  Shockingly bad, i guarantee.  Led the team in turnovers and didnt play much n didnt handle the ball much either.  Kids a nice 2 guard that doesnt show much defensive energy unless hes making shots.  However, anything near a PG he is not soft passes, passes nit on target and little to no pivoting or pass faking.  At least the coaching staff knows the qualities needed to be a lead
guard f they dont sugn a solid ball handler to lead the offense MU will struggle mightly and it might ultimately cost Wojo his job.

We didn't have a solid primary ball handler this season and we nearly made the tourney. What makes you think we will be so much worse next year? All the young guys get a year older and we add Morrow, another Hauser, Bailey, Eke, and potentially others. In the doomsday scenario where we don't add a PG I think the team could still execute as they did this year.

Seriously, if you go back and look at why we lost most of our games this year, it was because we didn't make our shots. Rowsey and/or Markus had some games where they turned it over a lot, but I wouldn't say that was a primary reason for our losing.

The ither issue with howard as a pg is his horrible defense ... again put anyother starting PG except for mintz n the GTown kid n mu is dancing this year.  And howard is a step down from rowsey with the ball.  Lordy lordy i hope wojo can find a guy and greg can back him up.  I really want mu to be good next year and howard woukd be disastrous.

Good game, high scoring, just what I said it would be

Dr. Blackheart

Here is a little hint.  MU is in the NIT and all the good refs are in the Big Dance.  Matt Morales it is.

Not sure when the grades and assignments go out after tonight's NCAA games but I am guessing it will only improve in NYC.

TAMU, Knower of Ball

One thing with the refs today that drove me crazy was the travelling. They consistently didn't call it on both sides but there was a lot of happy feet this game. So many pivot feet picked up
