Markus broke the record with 11.  What will be his best MU effort?

With Markus setting the new MU standard with 11 3s in a game while still having close to 3 years left in a MU uniform, it raises the question - was that his peak, or will he surpass that?

MUBigDance

This might be counterintuitive but I think playing alongside rowsy helps Markus. Because Rowsey handles and shoots the three, initial 3 line defense will go to him. Off the ball is better. Not sure there's a weak enough D left on our schedule to allow more than 11 though.

When Markus can't get that smile off his face he goes for 15.

It will be his peak.

Going forward this year, the defenses are getting better as we enter BE season.  In future years, there will be more depth so he won't log as many minutes v. cupcakes as he did on Wednesday.

And I heartily agree that playing along side Rowsey (and other great shooters) makes it easier for him.

I would love for Markus to beat the NCAA record, which I assume is around 14. However, most games he will not be shooting 15 threes, so I voted that 11 will be his top.

The Equalizer

He'll need at least 12 to make Wikipedia's list of 3 point shooters

I'm not sure I completely agree with this thought.  Yes, in general Markus will log fewer minutes.  But if Markus has a hot hand in a cupcake game next year and Wojo senses there's enough time for him to have a shot at an NCAA record, he's not going to pull him from the lineup because we have depth.

I think he'd even run plays designed to get Markus a three attempt in order to give him more chances at the record.

I do agree that there has to be enough talent surrounding him to keep defenses honest.

He's got a lot of games left in his MU career. I went with 14. Won't be this season.

I would take the Rick SLU program right now.

The record is 15, set by Marshall's Keith Veney back in 1996.

Since the NCAA moved the line to its present 20 feet, 9 inches before the 2007-08 season, the most was 13 by Jacksonville's Darius Dawkins just last season, and only 5 times has a player hit as many as 12 in a game.

All according to that Wikipedia list referenced earlier.
