Fictional Fantasy Football
« on: September 08, 2017, 01:47:11 PM »
Put together a basic fantasy football lineup (QB, RB, WR, TE, K, DEF) using any football player at any level from any era with one catch... you can't choose real person; in other words, put together a lineup using only characters from movies, books, TV shows, plays, etc.

Rules:
1. For DEF, just select one defensive player, not a team.

2. Players have to be completely fictional; a character that is based on a real life player (even if artistic liberties were taken) doesn't count... so no Rudy, Gale Sayers, etc.

3. You may not select a football player who appeared as himself in a work of fiction, e.g. Brett Favre in Something About Mary or Dan Marino in Ace Ventura (Ray Finkle, on the other hand, would be permissible).

4. Players portrayed by an actor who played football in real life are fine so long as the person isn't portraying himself or another real life football player... so George Papadopolis (played by Alex Karras) would be fair game.

5. You may only select a player at a position either established by the plot or which the character played at least one down... e.g. you can't take Spearchucker Jones and move him to DEF.  Also, the player doesn't have to appear in the work of fiction playing football as long as the story establishes that he did play football (e.g. George Papadopolis).

6. Established works of fiction only.  No telling us you just wrote a short story where Jesus became a wide receiver.

7. You can select the same actor twice as different characters in different works of fiction at different positions.

I'll start:

QB - Johnny Walker (Johnny Be Good)
RB - Julian Washington (Any Given Sunday)
WR - Clifford Franklin [with a case of stickem] (The Replacements)
TE - Cheeseburger Eddy (Longest Yard)
K - Gus (Gus)
DEF - Bobby Boucher (Waterboy)

Wow, I'm very concerned for Benny.  Being able to mimic Myron Medcalf's writing so closely implies an oncoming case of dementia.

A lovely, intelligent, successful businesswoman worth north of $300 million in my age bracket.   Really no downside.

Drafting Zeke in the 4th round is looking good right now.

How did it not go into the NFL thread?  At my age, it is sometimes a miracle to make it to the bathroom.
