Rare praise from D. Gottlieb
« on: January 23, 2017, 07:13:07 PM »
http://www.cbssports.com/college-basketball/news/how-arizonas-strategy-helped-it-beat-ucla-5-things-that-stood-out-this-weekend/

2. Don't be surprised if Marquette becomes the Big East's hot team down the stretch
Markus Howard is starting to take over and coach Steve Wojciechowski has found a role for Katin Reinhardt off the bench. Reinhardt, a transfer from USC, and Andrew Rowsey, a transfer from UNC-Ashville, are mature snipers off the bench who can just make shots.
MU has No. 1 ranked Villanova at home Tuesday and after that, the Golden Eagles could continue to build their momentum. They destroyed Creighton who simply could not stop them on Saturday and with Xavier still a little shaky, Butler letting everyone stay close and the rest of the league aside from Nova looking vulnerable, Marquette should be a tourney team.

More accurate I think.

Actually right now it is should. Pretty much every bracket has us in right now and after tomorrow we have gotten past 5 of our 6 or 7 most difficult conference games.

I do know, Newsie is right on you knowing ball.

Lots of games left.   We can play ourselves in, and out.

No, if we win the games we are supposed to win, we'll at least get to 10-8. With this year's bubble, that should be enough.

Also, should doesn't mean will, but I'd put our tourney odds at this point around 70%. Certainly enough time to blow it, but on paper, it's a downhill road to the NCAAs at this time.

Or 68% to be precise....

This is the same guy who had MU near the bottom of the league just last week. No credibility. And that means, no interest for me.

True. Also true is he gets a paid national platform to have some sort of knowledge of the subject unlike the many posters here.  So perhaps he may be held to a little bit of a higher standard.  Even MU beat writer Matt V responded to Gottlieb's bizarre Big East rankings tweet with head scratching.

Play yourself in or out, but the major key is just don't play yo'self.
