Sam did so many things well today.  Defense, rebounding, assists, floor awareness at all times and some good shots.  He is my star today.  I think it was his best all around game this year.

Wasn't Heldt in for most of our run that led to there actually being garbage time?

MUBigDance

Rowsy but need to note Duane's selfless, error free, team play.

Yes he was.  Our defense is so much smoother n active when Heldt is in there. He can move and rebound...something extremely important when u can already score.  We gonna score 80 a night we need some interior defense n rebounding
.

Rowsey.  Markus off for the day, how great it is to have options.  Interesting stretch coming up, and now SHU falls to Prov. to start us off.

LOL.  He had the same number of rebounds as Luke did while playing more minutes.

And forgetful to answer your original question, Luke was on the floor when Howard went out of the game and DePaul  hit free throws to go up 22-20.

He was subbed out at the 5:26 mark when MU was up 34-24.  Heldt then finished out the half.

So I was wrong that "much of it was in garbage time."  They both played during that first half run.  However the idea that our "defense is smoother when Heldt is in there," is an opinion that doesn't seem to have a basis in reality.  Luke is a better rebounder based on TR%, turns the ball over less based on TOV%, and fouls once every 8 minutes versus every 5 minutes for Matt.

Heldt is definitely improving.  And he may end up better than Luke when all is said and done.  But he isn't now.

I got to explain to my 10 year old what a 'heat check' was.    I started yelling it at the DVR.    So that was fun.
