College hoops viewership is down because it is not great basketball.

No Steph Curry in the NCAAs right now generating excitement.

Ben Simmons and Buddy Hield are the closest names that most non-NCAA BKB fans may recognize.

True dat. And don't forget the horrible officiating that makes many games unwatchable. No compelling stories. Just a lot of mediocre, faceless teams. Can't remember being less excited for a tourney.
Shifting my focus to the NBA. The playoffs are around the corner.

I think that may be a little chicken or the egg argument, however. Granted, Steph is clearly driving NBA ratings, but not only does the NCAA have stars worth watching, it has experienced stars. Buddy Hield is tremendous fun to watch. Denzel Valentine, Brice Johnson, Malcolm Brogdon, and Perry Ellis are all senior studs on big name programs. Even guys like Niang and Uthoff should be attracting some eyes.

I think this has been a great season to watch and feel this tournament could be absolutely fantastic. There are so many senior stars out there and so many teams with a legitimate shot to win it all. If people don't know the names, it's not because the guys haven't had time to establish themselves or aren't good enough, but because the fans weren't watching in the first place. Of course, they weren't watching in the first place because you don't have the established names. Not really sure how they fix that, though the current reffing trend probably isn't the answer.

I prefer tournaments with lots of parity and no clear favorite to win it all. I especially like all the upperclassmen stars. But I know ESPN only knows how to hype teams filled with star freshmen. As a result, less buzz from the fans

I think if College Basketball was able to persuade the NBA to increase the age limit so kids would stay a minimum of 3 years it would be better for all parties. When kids stay in school the fans get to know the players and that ultimately attracts interest. Also there would be more parity.

I feel like it would benefit the NBA too. Less risk drafting more experienced players
