OK guys, my last bracket. Regular season concludes on Saturday. Only five teams are locked into position.

Movement since last night:

Providence +1
Creighton -1

WarriorPride68

Really appreciate these MU. Always look forward to these. Thanks!

I would take the Rick SLU program right now.

KenoshaWarrior

I would rather play Xavier or Nova than Seton Hall.

Pago Warrior

My anticipated and desired outcomes:

MU beats Butler
Creighton loses to XU
Providence beats St Johns

MU gets the 5 seed, beats Providence in Rd1 and has to face Nova in Rd2.

If it plays out that way, last shred of possible tourney invite remains in the balance for MU.

That turnaround for the 8/9 game is a killer.

I'm less concerned about the possibility of Seton Hall.  Its tough for to beat the same team 3 times in a season.  And would love to get some revenge against them.

For that same reason, I'd be a little nervous about ending up in the 4/5 game against PC, as I'm sure they'd come out gunning for us after sweeping them this season.

Yep.  After playing maybe our best game against Seton Hall last year Nova just annihilated us the next day.

Unless one of them is knocked off by a low seed, we are playing either Xavier or Villanova in our second game, no matter how we are seeded.

It's quite unlikely that we'll see Seton Hall.
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

Quote from: muguru
No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

I mean, we also sucked last year. Not like a "ok but we're still down a little season" like this year but an outright tire fire. So happy that season is behind us.

Of course.  But the point about a 12 hour turnaround still stands.  Almost no team could survive that and be competitive.

Big East Tournament Seed Watch Final Edition of 2016
Pretty much guaranteed a 7 seed or higher--Nova ain't lettin' that prospect of a #1 seed slip away at home against dem Hoyas.

mu_hilltopper

It's astonishing there's a scenario we could finish 4th in the BE.

If Marquette...

Wins against Butler, Providence wins against St. John's and Creighton wins against Xavier, the Golden Eagles would be the 6 seed.

That is astonishing.

I do think our most likely outcome is a 5 seed with a win over Butler, and a 7 seed with a loss. Hard to see Providence losing to St. John's, Xavier losing to Creighton, or Nova losing to Georgetown.

If we can pull off a win, finishing fifth is much better than this season has felt. There are many times we have felt like an 8th place team.

Depends on HE's status. If he's not 100% than I think a 7 seed is our most likely result.

Agreed. I was merely commenting on the most likely outcome of the other games outside our control. I think we will be a 5 or 7, depending on our outcome.

I would agree that the 7 is the most likely of the two outcomes (meaning we lose).
