Marquette Continues Homestand, Hosts IPFW Monday Night

The No. 10/13 Marquette men's basketball team continues it's season-long five-game homestand Monday night when the squad hosts IPFW at 7 p.m. at the Bradley Center. The Golden Eagles are 4-0 at home this season following an 82-51 victory over Sacramento State Saturday night at the Bradley Center. Time Warner Sports will produce and air the live broadcast, with Dennis Krause (play-by-play) and Jeff Nix (analyst) calling the action. The Mastodons, members of the Summit League, are making their first appearance in Milwaukee since the 2004-05 campaign. Marquette posted a 91-57 victory in the only previous meeting between the two programs.

Bench Corps Key After Quick Start Saturday
While Marquette's starting unit helped the Golden Eagles jump out to a quick 14-0 lead against Sacramento State, it was MU's bench corps that helped make sure that advantage continued.

With a total of eight players checking in off the bench, the group combined to produce 32 points, 11 rebounds, five assists, five steals and four blocked shots. All of the 13 available players on the roster saw action versus the Hornets and the reserves shot a collective 10-of-19 (52.6 percent) from the field.

Barro Celebrates Milestone With Strong Effort
Just a week after celebrating his 23rd birthday, senior Ousmane Barro reached another significant date Saturday night in the victory over Sacramento State.

When the Dakar, Senegal, native checked in off the bench against the Hornets, he took the court for the 100th time as a Golden Eagle. Not satisfied with just making an appearance as he reached the century mark, Barro concluded the night with one of his best efforts in 2007-08.

In just 14 minutes of action, Barro netted a season-high 12 points, grabbed six rebounds, blocked a pair of shots and had a steal. He shot 5-of-6 from the field and three of his rebounds came at the offensive end.

Barro has appeared in 73 consecutive games, earning 52 starting assignments. Junior Dominic James has started each of his career 73 games and is the second-most experienced player on the current roster.

Brice, Frozena Earn Points In The Box Score
Walk-ons Tommy Brice and Robert Frozena both saw action in the win over Sacramento State and both players were able to collect their respective first career points.

Frozena, who joined the roster in late November and was making his first career appearance, knocked down a free throw late in the second half and Brice did the same moments later.

Brice, who has been with the team since 2005-06, appeared in his 16th career game Saturday night and made his first-ever trip to the free throw line.

It's funny that Brice took some 65 games on the roster to get his first point.  Frozena, bang, two games and he's in the books.
