I approach this in a similar way to how I am approaching Hauser.  I am thrilled that  Bailey had a great night but was not able to carry his team to a victory over Lone Peak.    Lone Peak.    In Utah.   In the 2.5 years before he arrives, he will have taken 2 years off from basketball.   He will not have been working with a strength trainer.    I am happy with any recruit who wants to come to MU.   I am skeptical that Mr. Bailey is going to contribute before 2019 at the earliest.

Lone Peak is really good. Jackson is a 5 star McDonald's all American that is going to Duke.

Fair enough.   Again, I am thrilled that Bailey has chosen MU as his school after his mission.   But realistically, he probably doesn't contribute much until 19-20.

I think Beatle Bailey is going to be an interesting player for us. Will be two years more mature when he arrives which is a plus.  Will take him a good year to get in his conditioning and timing down. I think 2019 is the right analysis. 

Also the article pointed out that they have been playing games in front of 4500 people.

Sam Hauser is intriguing and has scrumptious potential.

He will be plenty in shape by the time he hits Marquette's campus.  2 years older than any other freshman.

There's a kid on BYU's volleyball team who was a freak athlete and one of the best freshman in the country, but a thin kid.  He went on his mission after his freshman year, just got back and is now playing his sophomore season and is already training with the US National team.

Bailey comes from a very, very good basketball bloodline.  He will contribute his first year and beyond.

But hey, some here believe "the Mormon never shows up."  We got some good posters on this site.

I can't really comment on that as I don't know for sure, but I'm fairly confident that if you look at kids who go on missions within a sports program at a school like BYU you'll see kids fresh off of their missions who contribute to their team in their first year back.

Nick Emery is a freshman at BYU - back from a two year mission. Also attended Lone Peak. Averages about 15 a game so being out of basketball for two years didn't hurt him much.

Depends. Just like any other religion, there are degrees to which practices people hold true to. Less and less Catholics eat fish on Fridays. Less and less mormons take all the mission guidelines seriously. I dont know what Baileys level of commitment is to the traditions and practices of the LDS mission.

Bailey was brilliant. He finished with 28 points and sank four 3-pointers...

That's an interesting comment...poor jump shooting has always bothered me. It seems like the real good college teams can hit jumpers like the NBA.

Check that...no college team hits jumpers like the NBA....Its amazing the level of skill on display in the NBA.
