I think it was dgies who referenced it in the Friar thoughts thread, but what happens next?   How will this team handle success?    Will they get caught up and not take SJU as seriously as they need to?   A challenge for any team, let alone one as (words that everyone is tired of hearing) as this one.   The Friar win needs to be a building block, not a pinnacle.

I couldn't agree more. Can the Frosh keep it in perspective?  Maybe if I were Duane/Luke I'd tell coach that we should practice today in the Old Gym as a reminder.  'Last night was nothin' if we don't build on it Saturday.'

Can't imagine after getting blown out by the Pirates that they'll be taking anyone for granted.

I wish we were playing as well as the Pirates.

Corner turned, or not turned.   I'm thinking the team has turned the corner and will take no team lightly, and will continue to play hard.  St Johns is an important game.  Need to win it and build more momentum

A win over the Johnnies puts them back at .500 in the league. If you told me at Christmas that MU would be 2-2 in the first four league games, I would have taken it.

You have a group of players that as recently as last March and April were accustomed to putting a team on their shoulders and carrying it to victory. They were BMOCs and not used t having much in their way.

There were times during the Hall game and certainly during Iowa where these guys regressed. Last night was a case where they played together effectively. They won! They showed poise.

What scares me is that we don't seem to play well at home. We've had two marquee games (three if you count the Hall) and have lost all three, quite convincingly. Is there something about being at the Bradley Center that rattles these guys? Are we a better road team than a home court team?

Inquiring Warriors have concerns, especially this inquiring Warrior who has several remaining sets of home game tickets!

Corner reached. Time to turn it for once and for all. Or at least the next game and then the one after that. And on. And on.

Man, there is more than ONE corner to turn on this journey.  Just keep staring the next game in the face.

i don't think they overlook anyone...i think they have a hard time with consistency.  MU didn't overlook GTOWN....they just played soft.  if luke continues to match duane wilson with rebounds like he did last night...this team is in trouble.  if our pg continues to have more to's than assists...this team is in trouble.  imho, if mu fixes those two issues, and the BEAST intensity is present every night...they will win their fair share of games.

Of course; it's the current student section! Now, when I was a student...

Seriously though, occasionally teams do better without home distractions, but I think it's mostly coincidental and part of the learning curve.

There still young.  Excluding Villanova (who I expect to blow us out), I'd guess they have a couple where MU gets blown out and we think they haven't learned anything.  But they're young, and learning.

Exactly.   This is not going to be a boring, hum-drum, straight line on a smooth road ride.

Anyone who was watching the last minute or so of that game should not complain about our freshmen mistakes. St. John's was down two and literally had the ball taken out of their hands on four straight possessions.

Agreed.  Lot's of zig azgging, hopefully with wide enough zigs to see the NCAA bubble.
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

Quote from: muguru
No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.
