Our defense has not been good in:
- Most of Belmont game
- All of Iowa game
-'All of Seton Hall game
- Half of GTown game

Given that we could be good in transition with Ellenson and Fischer able to run the floor better than most bigs, maybe we should pressure more? It would get us some easy baskets and hide Some of our defensive liabilities.

Not saying the entire game but maybe "20 minutes of hell"?

I think the only way that works is if Wally is in for one of Luke/Henry. I don't think we want those two covering in space anymore than they already do. I think it would be a layup line or they would be in foul trouble.

To me, Wally has been one of the highlights in the two conference games. Good things seem to happen when he's out there, and I think he would do well in the press.

Looking only at the thread title, I immediately wondered if that is how you feel watching Marquette basketball right now? ;D

I'm going to say that I have been very pleasantly surprised by Wally's contribution in these two games.

I am glad Wojo gave him a nice run against GT. I'm not one who thinks he should play big minutes -- 10 is probably about right -- but he's the kind of "energy guy" who can make an impact in short bursts.

And he has a little more skill than I was led to believe. I'm still not calling him "highly skilled" or anything like that, just more skilled than I expected.

probably meant '40 minutes of hell'...

They played a hell of a lot better with Wally on the floor and one of the bigs on the bench. I wonder what that means and I wonder how Coach Wojo will process it?

TAMU, Knower of Ball

I think Henry has had two off games in a row and once he shakes this funk he and Luke will be back to dominating together.

His defense will always be a liability though.

I do know, Newsie is right on you knowing ball.

1st half vs SH Wally was also on the floor when they went on the run to take the lead.  He brings so much energy on both ends and keeps the ball moving will set screens

Wally to me is a smart, energetic player who has a lot of the traits that this team is missing.  I think he needs more minutes.  I said the same after SHU.

Really tough in midseason to just start doing this kind of stuff.  That's a major major change that if we are going to do it, needs to be worked on extensively in the offseason and practiced daily IMO.

Good teams make other teams look bad.  Play your best five.  How you define your best five is up to the coaching staff.
It is a treat to see Marquette play at any time.  You appreciate it when it is more  of a challenge to watch them.  Of course you want to see a W but that is what makes the games exciting to watch.

The defense was okay in the second half. Wally is willing to physically compete against bigger players. Haanif, like Cohen last year, is not ready to compete as shown by his lack of rebounding. The offense is the problem. It has to be more balanced. We have to look for and take good threes.  I do not remember Cohen or Haanif taking a three in our first two Big East games. The only player that seems capable of taking threes instead of driving is JJJ and Wojo takes him out of the game. Taking every possession inside is going to get us killed in the Big East.
