Big difference is that Buzz not being here was likely a big surprise to Noskowiak and Hill.  King had to figure there was a good chance that Bo would not be there by the time he matriculated.  I would imagine he is not a done deal for UW until after the new coach is decided on, though.

I have to believe that King asked Bo that question.  How do you think Bo answered him?  "You should know their is a good chance I will not be coaching you when you get to Madison.  And while I'd like to tell you Gard will be your coach, I cannot say that for sure."

If he said that he's scare away many recruits.  But Bo is/was in the business of getting recruits, not chasing them away.

So how did Bo handle this?

Well, we know from the press that Bo told Joey Hauser he'd like to coach him - in 2018.  So I'm guessing there was some waffling to recruits over whether he'd be around or not.

Well, I have no idea how he handled it, but Ryan announced he was retiring after this season more than 6 months ago, and King hadn't backed out yet.  I know Ryan waffled, but I cannot imagine King is all that surprised that Ryan retired.  It is certainly very possible that he backs out once the new permanent coach is announced, particularly if it is not Gard.

I can't say that all of the following post is true...

So, this is not the Associated Press and I'm not saying this is the truth...but...the rumor is in this neighborhood:

1.  Bo had inappropriate relationship with a younger woman
2.  Younger woman had some loose associations with very sketchy characters
3.  Very sketchy characters made Bo and his family's life hell (which is sad)
4.  Things got potentially escalated in the last week
5.  One of said sketchy characters was murdered in Madison last Friday night/Saturday morning.
6.  Nothing incriminating at all toward Bo but bad decisions led to peripheral attachment to an ugly situation which would bring embarrassment, shame and distraction to the University and program.
7.  On top of an already odd and tense situation...well...you can see the timing issue.

But I heard quite awhile ago about #1 and about the situation taking a heavy toll on his family. Hard to keep things copacetic at home when you are putting in the kind of time it takes to run a high-major program.

I think you meant Dick not Tony. Dick Bennett was just 60 when he took the WA State job so yeah about 10 years younger than Bo will be in 2017.
