Upping The Ante
« on: July 11, 2015, 01:07:48 PM »
2015-16 season ticket invoice included a notice in changes to the game day hospitality rooms:

Blue & Gold Room - Minimum $500 Blue & Gold Fund contribution (not sure what this was previously, although I thought all B&G contributors got access)

Courtside Club - Minimum $3,000 B&G contribution (think this was $2,500 previously)

Marquette Room - Minimum $12,000 B&G contribution (think this was $10,000 previously)

Benefits appear to be unchanged (i.e. coat storage, snacks, cash bar, etc.)

Last year assuming you had 4 tickets in the lower bowl sections you paid $600 per seat in donations. Which meant you had to pay an additional $100 to get in the Courtside Club. TThe mandatory donation has been raised to $700 per seat so you now will have to donate an extra $200 to get in Courtside Club. Where they really screw people is that they do not count the donations made for reseating. Those are due by April 30th and therefore do not fall in the current fiscal year. I was told that I just need to make my reseating donations sooner than the April 30 deadline. Basically, I should make the 2016/21017 reseating donation now instead of next April 30th. How do I know now that I even want season tickets next year? I only take two tickets, so I would need to donate an extra $1,600 now to get in Courtside Club.

I thought in the past these amounts were per pair of tickets.  So if you held four season seats and wanted four Courtside Club passes, you had to donate twice the minimum...not sure about that though.

Marquette is coming off its worst season in decades and they jack up the price?

You're buying Henry Ellenson, not last year's record.

That's a lot of cash for some chips and a coat hanger.

But it's a damn good chip...

I remember when one of the airlines started charging for coffee (I think it was UAL but I could be wrong.) Their marketing said that they were charging "but it is a damn good cup of coffee!" It wasn't and I think they altered their policy.

I guess my question is what is the point of these hospitality rooms? I have been in boxes at Seahawk and Mariner games and they are kitted out very nicely. But the amenities are there for enjoying while watching the action. It would seem like any of the hospitality rooms Marquette hosts would be for pre- and post-game gatherings. Personally, I would rather spend the money for proper tucker than throw myself at the mercy of a sh1tty buffet.

University of Minnesota's room in Williams Arena is open a$$ (nh). Just a place to meet and put your coat (which is a decent benefit...... Minneapolis winters, yo).. usually there is some crap chex mix type stuff, no beers for the last few years.. just pop... and sometimes a pay-for carving/sandwich station. TV's.
Thanks for ruining summer, Canada.

I know by the end of Marquette's Final Four game against KU in '03 the court was completely littered with corn and peanut-fed chips...

Holla.  Blue & Gold Room is expanding the Salty Snack selection this year.  Chick, when Glow says he is "checking his coat", you may want to follow.
