Someone asked about the value of the Italy trip in a hijacked post.

I suspect that value will come from our guys learning to play as a team, with each other and learning the Wojo way. We have a very young team this year with a very, very tough road to drive. The Italy trip could not have come at a better time.

What do you all think? Is it important to the team this year and what will we get from it?

Hopefully it will put us a bit ahead of the curve in regards to team cohesion because we will have played against some competitive teams before the season kicks off. Nothing against Valley City State, but they won't prepare us much for the season. Our early season schedule is pretty tough. Belmont, IUPUI, Iowa, then the two games in NYC. This team needs to be on the same page from day one. My hope is that Italy helps in that regard. It should also show how the new kids perform against actual competition.

We spend our winters in Italy, my claim to authority.

1st.  They love basketball in Italy.

2nd  Our butcher in Bergamo is a Marquette fan, who would have ever thought such a thing.

3rd   It will change the teams views on Christianity, history and perhaps he Jesuits.

I asked why the avid interest in basketball and saw that most people live in cities, even in Venice the young people play basketball.

When can the team start practicing?

I hope the team visits the museum at the Villa Borghese.  The Bernini sculptures are life changing.  Apollo and Daphne.   Sublime.

Sorry if this has been addressed, but will any of the games be available for viewing online? I seem to remember a Georetown brawl video when they were in China. I can't remember if that video was a broadcast or a cell phone video.

When can the team start practicing?

I *believe* whenever. The team is allowed 10 days of practice prior to leaving the U.S. How they want to schedule the practices is up to the program.
