For those in Northeastern Wisconsin, Matt Heldt and Neenah are playing Oshkosh North and Phillip Flory on channel 32 WACY beginning at 7:30 tonight.

Sweet, thanks for the heads up.

Sweet, thanks for the heads up.

Just kidding, that's Northeastern not Southeastern.  Looks like we get Kettle Moraine vs. Muskego.  Woohoo!

Fred Garvin

Scored 13 of Neenahs 15 points in first quarter.

Skitch

It's hard to really gauge anything since he seems to have at least a 6 inch advantage against anyone guarding him but Heldt looks good. Decent footwork and seems to get in good position to rebound. Hit a nice turn around 18 footer at the 1st quarter buzzer. 13 points through one.

Fred Garvin

Ended game with 35 points

Heldt looked really good tonight.  He has been using his left nicely on post moves. ...good days ahead!

While he is taller, it's nice knowing he's been coached and challenged by Brian Butch on building his footwork and ability to take contact. Say what you will about his college career, but the guy knows how to coach someone up. Can't wait to see Heldt develop as his frame fills out.
Assume what I say should be in teal if it doesn't pass the smell test for you.

Butch probably screwed up his footwork once he found out that Matt was going to be a "Beagle".
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

Anxious to see Matt and the tall Eagles play next season.

Can Matt dunk? Because for a 6'10 guy he has no dunking highlights on YouTube (that I can find).

From a quick internet search, it looks like Butch has been mostly bouncing around the NBA summer league, the D-league and a couple of foreign teams.  Has he been doing much coaching?  Are there examples of guys improving under him?  Not doubting you - just can't find much on him as a coach.

Yeah I saw him dunk in an AAU game this past summer. But athleticism is one of his weaker areas.

I'm basing this largely on an article he was featured in with Heldt from a while back. Butch has been working with kids in his camps for a while now.

That's cool and all, but who exactly in Division I has Butch "coached up" as you wrote?

I don't knowmifmhe can dunk, but I've heard he has decent feet and a nice stroke.  He strikes me as a guy who will work hard and has the basic skill set to turn into a versatile, big man who can pass, shoot and defend.  Nothing flashy, but he has developed nicely thus far in HS.  Weight room will be his biggest friend.

Guys, he's 6' 10! If he couldn't dunk I would be extremely worried.  Here is a clip.
