To put that in perspective, Shaq shot 53% for his career from the free-throw line.

Can you think of a guard that has a worst ft percentage than DW?  Seriously.

I'm not sure I ever recall a guard banging as many FT attempts off the glass as does Derrick.  Dom James became a poor Free Thrower, but usually his misses were at least of the clanging off the rim (not backboard variety.)

Not looking to bash DW...it's just that I'm thoroughly confused as to how a guard can struggle that much.

Furthermore, I don't know how more teams don't try and exploit a Hack-a-Derrick strategy.

Wasn't Mayo here?  Burton?  Dawson?  Pretty sure Dawson and Burton were at least 75+% FT shooters and 28%+ 3 point shooters.  Not to mention both physically had Big East ready bodies - and looking at Cheatham and Cohen, both of these guys need to add A LOT of strength.  JJJ and Duane too.
