Dr. Blackheart

Went back and looked at what happened on the first live action (not the dead ball free throws but the first full possession) out of time outs in yesterday's game, and I found this pretty interesting.

  • Georgetown scored on 100% of the possessions when they controlled the ball in the first live action out of a dead ball timeout. That was 7 out of 7. Four in the first half and three in the second.
  • MU was 7-9. 2-2 in the first. Five for seven in the 2nd including the first possession after the break where the possession was known.

That is some great offensive game coaching by both benches. I have noticed, though, that MU has been vulnerable defensively in these situations as these stats show. Perhaps a switch to a man from the base zone out of time outs would mix things up the second time through the Big East is in order?

I used to complain about the inability of Buzz to draw up a play during a timeout.  I don't have the stats to back myself up, but I felt like we rarely got a clean shot on a scripted play out of the timeout during Buzz's tenure.  Since Wojo took over, we are getting good looks for guys like Carlino and Duane on a regular basis. It's too soon to really compare the two overall, but this is one area of the game where I think Wojo is superior to Buzz
