Big East's Freshman of the Week

2nd time already this year. Maybe putting himself in the running for the annual award?

I believe that is twice now correct?  Very good things in his future.

Looks like Pinkston beat out Luke for player of the week.  Though, I noticed Luke got mentioned on the Big East website as "making a splashy debut".

p.s. also noticed on the article on Duane they have a picture of Derrick Wilson.   >:(

That is good, maybe the opposing teams will confuse the two as well and play off Duane and up on Derrick on defense and attack Derrick and not try with Duane on offense.

Texas Western

Nice to see Duane get the recognition. Nice to see Luke got mentioned, he will earn his share of these awards going forward too.

That might work for literally one play.

I hope you were not taking him serious
Lazar picking up where the BIG 3 left off....

I was not being serious. It is definitely frustrating though with every game the announcers calling them by each other's names.

I thank Pinkston for pulling out a nationally televised game that would have rally hurt the conference if we lost, BUT ...

from a state perspective, no comparison.

On offense:
Pinkston 1.25 adjusted offense (116 average offensive rating divided by average defense of 93)
Fischer 1.54 (159 divided by 103)

So Fischer was on pace to score 0.29 points MORE per possession than Pinkston even once you account for tougher defenses.

So go to the three defensive stats that are not part of the offensive rating:

Defensive Rebounds - Fischer wins 12 to 10

Blocked Shots - Fischer wins 6 to 4

Steals - Pinkston wins 4 to 0

Steals are more important than the other two, so I would give Pinkston a slight edge on defense, but no way it offsets Luke's huge edge on offense.

GIVE LUKE THE AWARD!
The www.valueaddsports.com analysis of basketball, football and baseball players are intended to neither be too hot or too cold - hundreds immerse themselves in studies of stats not of interest to broader fan bases (too hot), while others still insist on pure observation (too cold).

They have the correct picture of Duane up now.

Glad they changed it.  Wonder if someone in the Marquette SID sent the conference an e-mail?

Duane is oozing with talent.  Great to see that the coach recognizes this and gives him the green light to play all out.

KipsBayEagle

I keep forgetting he is a freshman.
