Threes against UTM last night = 10-23 (43.5%)

Most three (or most attempts) last year

Game = Threes
tOSU = 1-18
New Hamp = 3 - 22
Ariz St = 10-22 (45.5%)
Butler (OT) = 4 - 24
Nova = 10-28 (35.7%)
Xavier = 9 - 18 (50%)

Last night we equaled the best night last year for made threes (10) with the Nova and AZ State.
The AZ game was essentially our best three game last year, which we virtually equaled to last night.

Point is last night was as good a "three night" than any game last year save AZ State.

If we keep repeating this, I'm far less worried about our lack of height in the "pre-Fisher era."

Thoughts?

Our rebounding margin was -9.   Against a MVC team with a new coach and a new roster that is only slightly taller than our current roster.  Against a team with continuity that can simply adjust to more quickly close on shooters while still crushing us on the boards?    I was very pleased last night.   But it was UTM.

Follow-up to the post above

I added the results ...

Most three (or most attempts) last year

Game = Threes
tOSU = 1-18 LOSS
New Hamp = 3 - 22 WON (by 5)
Ariz St = 10-22 (45.5%) LOSS
Butler (OT) = 4 - 24 LOSS
Nova = 10-28 (35.7%) LOSS
Xavier = 9 - 18 (50%) WON

Last year we were 2 - 4 when we chuck more than 18 threes (23 last night).  In thinking about most of those games, we chucked them because we were behind or not killing New Hampshire.  In other words, out of desperation.

Last night it looked like an intentional part of the offense.  I like that much better.

Lots more poundage, though.

I'll just be happy if we're not starting every game with a 12- or 18- or 24-point deficit from behind the arc, as was the case last season. It's difficult enough to win a college basketball game. It's all the more difficult if you cede two dozen points in what has become such a crucial part of the game.
