If you don't get into a grad school now you can't do squat with a bachelor's degree.

Hahaha, F off. Point one fine, point 2 I absolutely agree with but point 3 is complete BS school now is completely different then those who graduated even 5-7 years ago. If you don't get into a grad school now you can't do squat with a bachelor's degree.

This young alum says otherwise. I am making enough money to live in a remodeled apartment in wicker park (Chicago) with my other non grad school young marquette alum.  Maybe you need grad school to rise to a level to support a family etc but the whole immediate need for grad school is blown way out of proportion in my 6 month experience and my roommates year and six month experience.

Wow is this a ridiculous statement

ChitownSpaceForRent

Ya know, I find it real ironic about people commenting about not booing players (which I totally agree with) yet people ripped the students, Todd, Derrick and Jake every chance they had. Especially Todd, you use the "they're only college kids" excuse for when it's convenient for you.

Have you forgotten all of the crap you guys pulled in school? This site had gotten even more ridiculous then it already was.

I agree that there is definitely some hypocrisy there. Both booers and rippers should remember that these are kids working their hardest to represent our alma mater. Ripping them or booing them is pretty sh*tty of us. And as mujivitiz posted, it is counterproductive and actually hurts our team.

One person called it ridiculous, one person said heh, and another lol'ed.  And I made a snide comment.  Hope you didn't break your hip, that soapbox must have been pretty high up there.

What is your point? That you can't get a job one day if you go to the games and support your team? That's ridiculous and you have thousands of examples of the opposite. Get over yourself, manage your time and you can get the job done.

You never boo your team. Period.

Wrong.

I have Chicago Bears season tickets and, yes, given what I see on the field this year, they ought to be booed until someone gets it.

I have a different standard for college players. I'll never boo guys who try and are doing the best they can, no matter what the score. They're college kids and I remember all too well what it was like to be a college student with the pressures of academics. These guys aren't getting paid, are young and they make mistakes.

I've booed coaches before (but NOT Al). I probably booed Buzz last year because, by late in the season, his coaching was bizzare and there was no effort to put the best team on the floor. Something was terribly wrong, so yeah, I probably booed Buzz when he was introduced. I would not boo a player, though.

WarriorInNYC

I will never boo any of my teams.  I think its a very pessimistic action and one that does not encourage better play at all.

I do find a big difference between booing my team and being critical of athletes or coaches on the team.  I know Derrick and others needed to play better last year for our team to succeed, and I know Buzz could have done a better job as well.  I have no problem discussing their struggles amongst other alumni or friends, whether it be on a message board or not.  But publicly voicing displeasure at that by booing the WHOLE TEAM during their performance to me, is rude and pessimistic.  And as mentioned above, it does not foster better performances.

As Warriorchick noted before, I think the only time where booing may be warranted is when there is a visible lack of effort.

Get over myself? Please. I am one who always goes to games way earlier then any rational human should. I'm just saying that if people need to study I see their point.

I thought this when I was in school too but definitely not true.

Dr. Blackheart

Booing is the new shunned slaps of five, ain'a.

NotBuzzWilliams

Buncha Bears fans used to booing their own team, heh?  As for the "not going to games because of studying," that's an excuse for a couple of games, but not half of them.  Some kids just don't care enough, and that's fine, but they'll show up if they see it as worth it to trudge all the way to the BC in the cold.

Tums Festival

Quote from: EllensonWiggen on November 03, 2014, 09:35:51 PM
Adding to the choir, but never boo.  ever.

Imagine if people came to your job, when you were 18 and bood you.  Like, while you were taking a western civ exam in the varsity theater and someone came up behind you and just started boo'ing.  At 18.  I had no life skills or any redeeming qualities at 18, so why would it be ok for me to pass judgement on a kid who is trying his best and his best is WAY better than my best was at the same age?

Boo your university or team when they do something morally wrong; not when they just don't perform.

Fr. Donnelly was intimidating enough all by himself. Someone booing me on top of that would've made me a basket case!
"Every day ends with a Tums festival!"

I boo when your coach is appearing to sabatoge his/her own team.
