Doug McDermott, Jimmer Fredette, half of blake griffin (pause for laugh), Tyler Hansbrough, JJ Redick, Andrew Bogut. Those are the white Naismith winners since 2000 and that's a decent chunk.  Now can we start to remember that of the future NBA players that brought us to the Final Four 2/3 of them were white.  Some of the games best players, currently, are white (Love, Gasoul, Dirk, Nash, etc)

I'm not trying to say anything other than there's two particular posters who need to relax and realize that the reason basketball has trended towards AA players has more to do with the popularity of the sport in the inner city vs the emphasis on sports as recreation in the suburbs.  It has nothing to do with either race being more talented or whatever.

As long as the players we get take the sport seriously then there's no reason to look at their race.
Retire Terry Rand's jersey!

I don't think this allegation deserved its own thread with a blanket subject line that implies most fans fear the race of our team. This is disgusting.

It was spreading to three different threads. I thought it'd be easier to call out the posts talking about how upset they are than it would to ruin three threads.  Sorry if I made something disgusting to you, I was defending our team, both races... so if you find that disgusting then I'd question you as a person.

The person is right. It didn't deserve an entirely new thread.

Well you're entitled to your opinion.  I stand by trying to save the other threads from being ruined

I know you had good intentions here, but surely you must realize how this looks for a player or recruit who may see the subject line on our message board, don't you?

" The Best Laid Plans of Mice and Men..."   Good intent but good works?  Not so Much

    Not Getting it

Blackhat

Throughout the nation people will partially judge a school based on racial breakdown and style;  from Memphis to Wisconsin.   When Duke was predominately a white roster they heard it as well.

That's just the reality of humanity.

b-ball has largely become a black man's game.   I have no qualms with the style player Wojo is bringing in (shooters with skill sets), but if they are all/mostly white there will be a racial stigma attached to MU.   Fight it or ignore it all you want, it'll happen.

Hmm then what you change it to? "Why Race of our team doesn't matter"?

Its 2014, why the flying hell is this even an acceptable discussion.

What the hell is wrong with some of you?

Go out and get the best players that MU can, and let the cards fall where they may.

This is straight up embarrassing.

Truth.

And for those getting all worked up in outrage over these discussions....and thinking there is something "racist" about them....it is faux outrage.  The truth is it is far LESS racist to have conversations, than to never address the elephant in the room.

It would be ignorant to NOT engage in a discussion about the the changing complexion of the roster.  No pun intended.

I certainly believe Wojo will recruit and land black players as well of course...but...so far....the results are a big time departure from what we saw with Buzz.  And as Stone Cold said...basketball at the high major/NBA level largely has become a black man's game.  To say so and acknowledge the obvious isn't freaking racist...or "embarrassing."
"I'm not sure Cadougan would fix the problems on this team. I'm not even convinced he would be better for this team than DeWil is."
