Not sure why the Deonte dunk is so incredible.   I mean, if you remove the defender, it would be a run-of-the-mill throw down.  Yes, there was a guy in his way that his momentum and mass easily pushed aside. 

No, I couldn't do that.  Yes, ~9 other guys on our team could .. run at the rim, jump, collide with someone, and get the ball in the hoop.

Sorry Topper - Burton's dunk was incredibly difficult.  Where he elevates from (take off point), off of two feet, cocks the ball back with a one-hand tomahawk....basically T-Bagging a 6'9" 235lbs defender who's solid physique/body weren't enough to interrupt Burton's power/force and ability to get all the way to the basket - it's remarkable...especially Burton only being 6'4".

I don't recall seeing a more impressive dunk by an MU player in the last 20 years....alley oop, and put back dunks off of missed shots such as DJO did against Louisville aren't nearly as impressive in that you don't have to control the ball the whole flight...just at the apex.

Agreed that Burton's dunk is incredible. Even if there was no defender there, he covered some distance and threw it down with authority. The fact that a defender being in front of him didn't stop any of that momentum shows how powerful Burton is.

As far as oops and putbacks being difficult it kind of depends. Timing a putback and reading it correctly off the rim can be difficult and takes some skill (although sometimes they're just running in and happen to get lucky on their jump), and sometimes on oops it can be a difficult catch depending on the pass. If it's thrown too low that makes it tough, or if it's from a decent distance the amount of velocity on the ball can make it hard for it not to slip through the hands. Plus if a defender is jumping and trying to block the pass attempt that can take a lot of concentration to still make the catch. On an open, perfect pass ally oop I agree, it's fairly simple. The pass might be actually harder to make than the dunk.

Super disagree on whether ally-oops or putbacks are somehow not "nearly as impressive" .. agree with wadesworld.

Not having the ball in your hands is way more difficult.  You need to move your body in precise timing to be at the right spot at the right time for an ally-oop, let alone it's a two player effort with the possible failing of bad throw, as well.

I think you could quantify it by thinking of .. if dunk X could be attempted 10 times, how many times would that dunk be successful?    Deonte's I think would be successful a large chunk of the time.  Remove the defender, and it (should) be 90%, although you do see players misjudge it by a few inches and thwang, they hit the rim.

An ally-oop or rebound?  Way lower success rate, if they even attempt one, as if your defender is in a decent spot, you just can't get to the right place at the right time.

Was the creator of this video a cuse fan? Because there was about 9 very average syracuse dunks in there. And maybe 2 good ones.
