More of a scoring threat than Derrick Wilson, evidently.

Not possible......especially from the charity stripe.

Says he will team with Derrick Wilson. I guess that means (unless Wojo is insane or intentionally throwing games) that they'll be teaming up behind Magic.

No mention of game changing defense, however.

Agreed.

Derrick Wilson can still play Wojo type Duke style lock down defense every trip down. In fact, I think most of MU's guards can.

Especially Mayo and J. Dawson. Great defensive mentality and stance and they move well laterally and stay on their man.

The only negative is the rules changes in CBB with hand checking and the body lean or bump when driving in the lane.

It is getting to be like the NBA in this no touch stuff. This theory that BBall is a non-contact sport is flimsy. But many people think that way and the rules reflect that.

With no natural shot-blocker of consistent contester of shots MU will have to have any guard they have that log major minutes be able to guard.

In that regard D.Wilson might be superior to Carlino...in that aspect. But you do need to put the ball in the basket too.

If he can shoot from that spot...it is "efficent" enough from what we have witnessed the last two years.

Just the threat to hit an open shot much less a 3 is fine by me.

I am very curious to see where the bulk of the scoring will come from. Will it be from the backcourt or the frontcourt?

UConn showed you can get in the tournament with strong guard play and will your bigs to do their part and get it done.

I think Coach Wojo can be another Kevin Ollie. . . and first year wonder if he is creative and instills his competitive mind-set and fire in his new team and this program.

We'll see...

We need an offensive threat at point guard. We cant play 4-5 again this coming year.

At times last year, BYU thought that they were playing 1 on 5 with Carlino.
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

Agree but we need to manage expectations. Hope for the best but need to be realistic given missing 2 schollies.

Wojo's biggest challenge is to teach this young man to play in a team concept. Otherwise you are correct we will be no better off. Carlino is a one and done so he will have a limited window to show he can be unselfish.

That's been the m.o. at each of his stops, and there have been many.  Maybe his final collegiate head coach can make it sink in, if not he will be on the bench.  Up to him.

OK, let's not fall into the same trap we did last offseason.
Despite a big loss (Vander), many on this board were talking about MU's final four run -- to mostly head nodding.

We have had a similar big loss this year in an entire coaching staff and a couple of promising newcomers (despite the wailing and gnashing of teeth to the contrary, Brent did not create the problems last year. He may have exacerbated them, but he did not create them. Short term, the departures are a loss).

Marquette will be counting on Juan Anderson to play a lot of meaningful minutes this year. Let that sink in for a moment.
I'm as big a Juan fan as you'll find, but three years later, we're all waiting for him to take the next step. Will that magic light suddenly come on this year? I sure as sh:t hope so...
Let's just say I've forced myself to temper my expectations for 2014-2015.
